Hi

I had my midwife appointment this week and I was tested for my glucose levels and iron my glucose came back a little high so iv been sent to do the 3 hour one in the hospital in hollestreet next week I was just wondering what to expect at the appointment?

My iron came back low so I'm on iron tablets for that.

Thank you

I had my GTT a few weeks ago. Appointment was first thing & I had to fast from midnight, nothing apart from clear water, no mouthwash or chewing gum either. When I arrived they checked my blood with a finger prick & it was in normal range so they drew some blood from my arm.

I then had to drink a syrupy glucose drink & tell them what time I finished it. I had more bloods done exactly 2 hours after finishing the drink then I was finished. During the 2 hours I had to stay in the hospital & could only go as far as the toilet. They did let me drink water & put me in a comfortable waiting area.

My appointment letter said I would be there 2-3 hours but was finished after 2.5 hours.
