Hi,
I am 33 weeks pregnant and felt "off" for the couple of days, very tired and baby wasn't moving much, I then decided to ring Maternity assessment unit,
Went in with pains and reduced movements and here I am.
I am not allowed to go home because my blood pressure was 160/90 yesterday and then went to 170/110 after an hour..
My blood pressure was and always is so low as it ranges between 100/60 .
It came as a shock really.
I was admitted and given medication for BP to go down.
I took the tablet at 6pm yesterday and after an hour my BP went down to 130/90 which was fine yet still high.
Throughout the night my BP went down again to 120/80 and it stayed like this.
I was hoping to go home this morning
morning but the Dr came and said I am not allowed yet as they need to do monitoring.
I have a toddler at home and I am finding this really hard to be honest :((
I have a headache but no protein in my urine was found.

I wonder of my BP is down due to the tablet and it will be up again later on the day ? Or maybe it just was a "one off" .
Is it possible for it to just be one off so I can go home..
Baby is fine, moving loads, no protein, no pains.
I feel like I am wasting their time and bed by staying, I really want to go home:(

Any experiences ?
Do you know how long is the tablet effective for ?

Thank you x

No experiences but sorry to hear what you’re going through Sad stay put until the doctors are happy, they’re just trying to look after you and baby and they wouldn’t be using a bed for you if they didn’t think you needed to be there. Can you FaceTime home to chat to your little one? Hope you get the all clear very soon! xx

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and just got home from my third hospital stay with high blood pressure.
Have they put you on labetalol?
They normally want to keep you a minimum of 24 hours after starting the medication to make sure it's working

Stay where you are ,they know best. They need to check you will not develop preeclampsia which comes on very quickly. Please buy a BP machine for your home, and check every morning and evening once discharged. Expect to be on BP meds now until after the baby is born. Try not to worry it's all for the right reasons.

Thank you ladies 🥰
I am very hopeful.
Last medication was given to me yesterday night and my blood pressure for now is 120/60 which is perfect 🥰
I hope things settle down and I won't need medication throughout the rest of pregnancy and that it was just a weird " one off"

Mine started off like this at 30 weeks and then eventually turned into pre eclampsia, so please be aware of symptoms/get BP checked regularly (eventually mine went back up despite tablets).

I went back in to the assessment unit with reduced movements at 34 weeks and got diagnosed/delivered shortly after (now a crazy 2 year old).

@April88 did it went down the first time after tablet ? Xx
My BP today was perfect, hopefully I am allowed to go home tomorrow, they said I will need to go and have my midwifes check my BP twice weekly but I doubt it will spike again ! Xx

Yes I was on BP medication for 3/4 weeks and it brought it down as soon as I took it. I was only in the day clinic originally so not sure if it stayed down but I was prescribed it from then on. You might be different if you took it once and kept it down. Definitely worth going twice weekly to get it checked so if it is raised you can get properly checked.

I’m pregnant with my second and 26 weeks and just started weekly BP checks due to last time.

I got high bp which turned out to be pre eclampsia and had to have an emergency c section at 34 weeks as the bp meds weren't working. Sounds like yours are bringing it down though which is surely a good sign.

@April88 awww I see.
How did it end ?
Were you OK to give birth naturally at term ?

No, emergency c section at 34 weeks as I was diagnosed with pre eclampsia.

He was 3lb 10 and spent two weeks in NICU.

But it started off with high BP at 30 weeks, so worth it being checked regularly.
