I’m 18 weeks and I’ve caught it from my toddler. Has anyone else had it while pregnant? Was everything ok?

I had gastroenteritis at 11 weeks. I did have to go to hospital due to a lack of fluids staying in but just for one night while on a drip. Baby was fine, he's 13 now Grin

I did with both mine. Everything was fine but obviously the sickness bug isn't fun! Make sure you keep hydrated. I hope you feel better soon.

Patapouf · 17/08/2021 07:36

Keep hydrated, baby will be fine.

Garman · 17/08/2021 07:56

Yes I had it twice in my first pregnancy, miserable for you but baby will be fine. Just try and stay hydrated.

I also had gastroenteritis in 2nd trimester and had to go into hospital for fluids. Am now 34 weeks and everything seems fine. Main thing is keeping fluids down. Hope you feel better soon!

I had it last week at 20 weeks. It’s really horrible, esp with a toddler to watch too, but I went on the advice of if I could keep fluids down, that was what was important. If it lasts more than 48hours and you can’t keep water down I would call your midwife to be safe.

It’s proper crap. Mine lasted about 12hours and then an upset tummy for a few days

lljkk · 17/08/2021 08:10

yeah, about 12-13 weeks along. Just keep your fluid intake up. It's self-limiting.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I feel awful but glad to hear everyone was fine. I can just about keep water down as long as I sip it really, really slowly so hopefully I’ll be fine.

Just wanted to update the thread in case any other worried pregnant women are suffering from norovirus and come across the thread - 24 hours since I posted, about 30 hours since symptoms started and I feel SO much better. Still nauseous and weak but 100 times better than I felt 24 hours ago. Norovirus is vile but it is at least short lived! And baby is kicking away in there 😊

Glad you're feeling better Smile
