Tiny bit of blood after ultrasound

Had an ultrasound scan at 8 weeks, everything looks good and can see heartbeat. Has anyone else had a tiny bit of blood afterwards, she did press quite firmly on my tummy to get a good picture

I had some bleeding after all of my early scans. I used to joke that the baby didn't like being prodded!

At 8 weeks she should have given you a vaginal ultrasound not an abdominal one as it’s too traumatic. Have a chat with your mw or the ultrasound clinic to see if the bleeding is within the range of normal.

I work in obstetric ultrasound and this is absolute bullshit! Please do not spout this kind of dangerous nonsense on the internet!!!!

OP did you have a transvaginal scan or just a pelvic scan? During pregnancy your cervix can be quite vascular and something like inserting a probe or sexual inter course can cause some of these blood vessels to burst and you can get some spotting.

It's very normal to have spotting early on in pregnancy due to lots of reasons, but mostly implantation bleeding. If the blood becomes heavy, red, clots or you get abdominal pain please contact your midwife, GP or local EPU.

Just had a regular abdominal ultrasound, only tiny bit of blood when I wiped nothing major, has stopped now

I had this during my 12 week scan, she asked me to empty my bladder a little, so went for a wee mid way and was bleeding a little, mentioned it when I went back in and she couldn’t find any cause, which was reassuring

I had one at 8 weeks and bled after, only after that one and been fine at all the other ultrasounds. It was quite a panic though, going from a high of seeing baby was fine to then a panic of bleeding

I know exactly what you mean @willithappen

@Ozanj - not true. I had an abdominal at 8 weeks and only if they couldn’t see anything would they have offered a vaginal. Keeping the bladder nice and full really helped.

However OP I had tiny bits of bleeding after my 20 week scan and she did press very hard on me and I was a bit sore afterwards x
