Period / Bleeding at 8 weeks pregnant

I am 8 weeks and 5 days pregnant. I have already had 2 scans as I'm such a worrier! I had one 2 days ago and heard the baby's little healthy heartbeat.

Earlier on in the pregnancy, I had the implantation bleeding which was just a light coloured spotting on my tissue. This morning, I have woken up to a heavy bleeding and cramps, which to me feels exactly like a period! I've felt quite period like for a few days.

I have been to the hospital to get checked, they checked my blood and said that it's okay, but they haven't explained what could be happening or why it's happening. I'm really worrying because it feels as though I'm having a period but apparently that doesn't happen in pregnancy.

Has anyone experienced anything similar / can offer any reassurance? like I said I'm a bit of a worrier!

Thank you :)

Did they scan you at the hospital? Was it A&E? You need to contact your local EPU if you haven't already, they should absolutely want to get you in for a scan. It could go either way OP but any time I've had cramps accompanied by bleeding, I've miscarried. I hope this is not the case for you of course but you do really need a scan and in my experience, EPU will scan you asap for the issues you are having. I hope it turns out okay Flowers

Just to update you, I had my scan today I have a little baby in my belly and I'm exactly 9 weeks. There's nothing to be worried about as everything looks how it should. We believe it's a little bleed I'm probably going to get every month around the time of my period as this is very common but there's no explanation for it. But yes, baby is completely fine and is looking like an actual little baby now. Thank you for your response x

Happened to me twice. Once at 6 weeks (bleeding and cramping), then again at 8 weeks (a sudden gush). Had 2 scans and baby was fine both times. Now nearly 17 weeks Smile never did know why

Hi

I’m pretty new to this just after a little advice I was due to have a period around the 15th and didn’t so I took x2 clear blue pregnancy tests today which have both come up positive. Went to work like normal and this evening started to bleed not very heavy but not very light according to the Flo app it says I’m 4 +6 with cramping it was too late to call for the doctor but am I wrong to presume this is a MC I’m very unsure what to do 😔

Any advice would be very much appreciated x

The best thing to do would be to go to your A&E department, they will confirm the pregnancy and will take blood samples to test the hormone levels in your blood which will determine whether baby is okay. After they have done this, they should refer you to the Early Pregnancy Unit. They will give you an early scan.

When I found out I was pregnant, I started to bleed straight after. So I did what I mentioned above, everything was okay and it turns out the bleeding was just the implantation bleeding which happens right at the start of pregnancy and is completely normal.

Please take the advice that I gave above as this will be able to give you a clear answer and will put your mind at rest, I hope everything is okay for you, keep us updated xx
