Hello everyone. I am pregnant and thought I was getting pzifer. Any side effects with moderna? I don't know anyone who received this one.
Thank you

Me and my husband have both had moderna. Biggest side effect was the sore arm, my husband was a bit tired too- I was fine!

Leonberger · 16/08/2021 10:07

I had moderna.
1st vaccine was fine without any side effects but the 2nd was bloody awful symptoms wise!

Sanch1 · 16/08/2021 10:10

I had issues for either dose apart from a sore arm, and less sore from the second.

Sanch1 · 16/08/2021 10:11

No issues!

What kind of symptoms did you get the second time? Thank you

1st jab no issues apart from very sore arm
2nd jab flu like symptoms including fatigue and awful headache, lasted a week.

First time, instant sickness went in for days I ended up having to have an anti sickness injection. I had the fever, chronic tiredness, sore throat, temp, floored for 3-4 days. Got a period for the first time in 5 years that lasted 6 weeks. Maybe a coincidence though. No sore arm.

Second I just had a sore arm and super tired for a couple of days.

I'm 36 and have had covid so maybe that made a difference to my side affects.

I had the first dose at 12 weeks and had a sore arm for a day but nothing other than that :)

Leonberger · 16/08/2021 11:10

@sapo2000 the first time was a sore arm and a little bit tired. I needed an afternoon nap but was fine the next day.

Second one strangely was less painful arm wise but I had horrible shivers/shakes and flu like symptoms along with a headache. I was up most of the night with shivering as though my bones were rattling Hmm
I was also exhausted for 24-48 hours and was off food for the first 24.

I had my first at 23 weeks pregnant and the second at 31 ish.

I had a sore arm first dose and my arm was really sore second dose but sore arm was away both times 2 days later. No other side effects.

TTCAbroad · 16/08/2021 11:41

1st - needed a nap about 8 hours after and had a really slight headache that was gone by the next morning. Sore arm that lasted about 3 days.

2nd - woke up at 3am (12h post injection) with some pretty aggressive chills. By the time I woke up again at 6ish chills were gone but was exhausted and had a headache with a fever of about 37.8. Paracetamol every 3 hours kept the headache away and the fever down but was exhausted all day. Was able to come off paracetamol by 8pm and was feeling ok. Back to normal by the next morning. Had a sore arm for about 5 days - I received both injections in the same arm.

In terms of the injection itself it was so painless I almost didn’t even feel it.

TinToms · 16/08/2021 15:05

I had my first Moderna at 13 weeks and just had a dead arm for a couple of days. Second jab at 21 weeks and I felt mostly fine but did get diarrhoea and had the next day off work. But it’s a v small price to pay and I felt totally normal within 24 hours.

Hunkydory99 · 16/08/2021 16:13

First dose was 20 weeks pregnant. Sore arm for 3 days and slight fever for 24 hours
Second dose 28 weeks. Sore arm again for 3 days at first wasn’t any worse than after my whooping cough vaccine but the ache didn’t go away as quickly. Had an upset stomach and slight fever for 24 hours. Both outcomes preferable to having covid whilst pregnant! My husband had AZ and had much more severe side effects but again we’re gone within days.

Has anyone else got experiences of having the second vaccine whilst pregnant? How long do the flu like symptoms last please? Sad

@sapo2000 I feel absolutely hideous I'm not going to lie!! Feel like I have flu, DH keeps trying to tell me it's for the best and I'll feel better tomorrow. Fingers crossed and don't let me put you off as I'm sure this is less bad than covid

On the 12th of October ...I hope you recover very quickly. I was told that people try to sleep as much as possible and that they usually better after doing it.

I had my 2nd moderna jab at 5 weeks pregnant. The next day I felt pretty awful I'm not going to lie! Flu like symptoms headache/shivers/no appetite etc. It only lasted for 1 day though.

I had no problems at all after the 1st one.

sheusesmagazines · 25/09/2021 23:03

Had 2x Moderna when pregnant, 14 and 22 weeks.

1st was fine. 2nd I had fever, chills, body aches, nausea and tiredness for 48 hours then was fine. Not as bad as a proper flu but I missed one day of work.

Gamechanger2019 · 26/09/2021 02:09

I had first moderna injection the week before I conceived and I’ve just had my second at 14 weeks on Friday. 1st dead slight headache the second one now I feel dreadful and been in bed for currently 24hrs - fever, chills, insomnia, swollen heavy arm, flu like symptoms and headache. I can see me having to take Monday off which is not ideal.
