Diarrhoea in early pregnancy

Hi there,

I’m in early pregnancy, approx 6 weeks, and have been struggling with diarrhoea, funny tummy pang kind of noises & nausea. No actual sickness. This is my first pregnancy. Just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced this and if so how long for? Not sure if it is just hormonal or I’ve somehow picked something up even though I’ve been trying to be careful! It’s really getting me down. Not able to exercise like I usually do and my diet has gone down the pan, eating so badly! Not the healthy pregnancy I’d imagined!!

Thanks

I had this 😫 in both pregnancies. Used to hit from 4 am each morning and then ease off the rest of the day. First pregnancy dr took a sample just in case but it was all clear. Eased off in second trimester both times. Best guess of dr was just hormonal and it did ease once the placenta took over. My sympathies to you as it isn’t very nice!

Ah it’s so nice and reassuring to hear from someone who has experienced the same, thank you!! It is awful and not what I was expecting from pregnancy. But I feel much better knowing it could be just my body’s weird way of reacting to pregnancy. I did a Google and there’s very little on it being an early pregnancy symptom. Not looking forward to the next few weeks if this is my first trimester though Grin I have had a sample taken to check but my doctor suspected hormonal too!

I’m 27 weeks and it’s still happening to me every morning!

Oh you poor thing!! So hard to enjoy it when feeling like this. Hope it eases off for you soon.

I had this too. I read that some people get it instead of sickness and I was never sick (16+4 now). All sorts of digestive issues can be normal - get constipation too. All very glamorous Grin

Yes I had really really loose stool every day for weeks from around week 5 until week 7-8. I was worried because all I ever read about was constipation with pregnancy not the opposite! I’m now week 11, had a scan last week and so far so good and my toilet habits are much more normal! So I think it’s just one of those things that some women get.

Great to hear from you all, thanks! I haven't had actual sickness either. Just this and nausea. So glamorous!! Wink

I have this too. Am five weeks, and it's totally unexpected - my first pregnancy I suffered really badly with constipation, so this has come as a real surprise.

Just trying to drink plenty of water and not take any farts for granted!
