Not needing to go and get checked...

Hi all...
I'm just wondering has anyone NOT needed to go and get checked at the hospital due to reduced movements? I read a lot in groups online about Mums-to-be going to get checked due to reduced movements. I know every pregnancy is different and thankfully up to now I've not felt the need to go and get checked, I'm just wondering if this will be something that will happen or do some women not need to go?

I never went with either of my 2- remember you’re reading a forum where people have issues and ask advice, no one will post “my pregnancy is relatively easy”

HalloHello · 13/08/2021 13:52

I never did with my first, there were probably days where I considered it but then she would start moving fine again after an hour so I didn't.

Currently nearly 38 weeks, and very similar situation this time.

Count yourself very lucky, I would be an absolute nervous wreck if I was worried about movements. So glad I've had pretty active babies!

@OnlyFoolsnMothers Thank you for your reply, my partner just said the same thing that people will post online needing help or advice.
I'm a FTM and up to now (almost 34 weeks) I'm feeling I kind of got an indication of when baby is most active but then there are moments where if I've been busy I've not noticed movements as much and I keep thinking am I being too relaxed about it? Should I be more concerned?

Never went with my first - he was an acrobat.

Not needed to go this time (31 weeks) and hopefully wont have to.. I don't know of anyone in RL that has been in for reduced movements, just what I see on forums

Obviously you need to be alert to any changes that will potentially need monitoring, but it's not a given at all

First pregnancy never. Second pregnancy once at 35 weeks. Wee monkey had turned himself breech having been head down which was why I couldn't feel movements so well.

Doesn’t sound like any reason to be concerned- sounds like u know your baby and you will know if they suddenly aren’t doing what they usually do. Relax!

stormelf · 13/08/2021 13:58

First pregnancy I went in three times and then had to be monitored for last week before she was born. Second pregnancy didn't have to go in at all. I'm only 20w this time round so still not established a routine with movements but hopefully they will be regular throughout

40notout40 · 13/08/2021 13:59

Same, haven't had to a d don't recall any pregnant friends doing so either, but it's more likely for you to read about it on a forum.
Similarly it seems like every person on here goes for several growth scans

Lou98 · 13/08/2021 14:01

I went a few times in my pregnancy and ended up getting induced due to RFL and his heart rate dropping so glad I went. I felt in the minority though because I don't know anyone else in RL that went during their pregnancies.

If you're not worried and can feel baby moving then carry on as you are, as above, you'll only see the people worried because this is a good place for advice in those situations x

lillylemons · 13/08/2021 14:22

I had 2 straightforward pregnancies and never needed to go get checked out for reduced movement. just had the normal antenatal appointments.

I'm 27 weeks pregnant now and not needed any extra checks ups.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 13/08/2021 14:28

I never went to get checked - I don't think any of my friend did either. I remember getting a bit stressed about kick counts though because DS often sort of "swooshed" about and didn't kick! Asked my consultant who said it wasn't necessary, but just to keep an eye on his usual movement patterns.

absolutehush · 13/08/2021 14:32

I was the only one in my NCT of 5 who went - and I was the only high risk (pre-eclampsia and IUGR) so was on the very risk averse side for reduced movement. If my pregnancy had been smoother, I would have had a higher tolerance for waiting to go in to check.

8dpwoah · 13/08/2021 14:41

I went in a couple of times with my first (and the scan that I had the second time actually informed the decision to induce at a later appointment) but I had a high anterior placenta blocking me feeling much when she was in certain positions.

This time I have a posterior placenta and haven't had to even think about phoning yet at 31 weeks as movement is SO clear without a placenta in the way. That said if I had any doubts with this one I would be straight on the phone because movement has been so clear so far, whereas with my first I used to do the have a can of coke and lie down on my left thing just to see if I could resolve it that way. I wouldn't risk waiting with this one as it would be so unusual not to feel her.

There's no harm in going to get checked if you're not sure but I think movements depends on so many things it wouldn't be anything to worry about if you are confident all was well either.

LittleRedPill · 13/08/2021 14:52

Nope, no extra checks with either of mine. Both very straightforward pregnancies.

Rosieposy89 · 13/08/2021 17:43

I'm 34+4 with my first and I've been in 3 times, 25, 31 and 32 wks. Baby is growing well but her movements definitely changed their pattern a few times. So stressful

PrimeraVez · 13/08/2021 18:18

Currently 37w with number 3 and have never been in with any of mine. Equally I don’t think any friends have ever mentioned it either.

hartwood · 13/08/2021 18:23

I never went with either of mine. I honestly don't think mine ever had a 'usual pattern of movements' that they talk about either. Or maybe I'm just rubbish?!
