18 + 4 no 20 week appointment yet

I rang the hospital this morning, as I’m 18+4 and haven’t had a letter yet about my 20 week scan appointment.
The receptionist said I am in the system, but an appointment hasn’t been made yet, but I can expect an appointment between 16-27th August … this doesn’t give me much time to organise the appointment with work!
I know I am entitled to the time off and that it isn’t anybody’s fault, but I feel like this is quite last minute for an appointment and could cause issues with DH requesting the time off to attend the scan.
Is this normal timeframe for scan appointments?

Where I am they booked the 20 week scan when I had the 12 week scan so it does seem that they are leaving it pretty late.
The midwife appointment booking system here is pretty inefficient though.

Mine was like this; as there’s a shortage of maternity staff including sonographers at my hospital at the moment due to the pandemic and people isolating. I got four days notice.

@Arecklessmanor I asked about doing this at my 12 week appointment and was told that my scan might be at a different place, so they couldn’t book me in. I had my 12 week scan just in a walk in centre and not even my local walk in centre!

I was just thinking the postman hadn’t delivered my letter, my 12 week appointment letter got lost in the post and didn’t show up on the app either. If I hadn’t rang I’d have completely missed it.

I too was in this situation! My scan ended up being when I was 21.2 weeks and I got the letter the day before I turned 20 weeks.

My 12 week scan I had two weeks notice, but my 21 week scan ended up being somewhere different due to staff shortages and such.
