Horrendous morning sickness

I am currently 8 weeks pregnant with my second baby and really struggling with morning sickness and I just wondered if anyone has any tips as it's getting me down emotionally and I'm struggling. I just feel soooo sick all the time. I had it with my dd but not as bad as this and I feel like I'm never going to feel normal again. I am going to start taking Cyclizine which my doctor recommended so I'm hoping that will make a difference. I worry too there is something wrong with the baby. (I have had some spotting but we saw the heartbeat last week so hopefully that and the sickness means it is still ok). With my dd I felt constipated but this time it's the opposite. Is that normal? Thanks all.

Also, could vomiting harm the baby? Thanks

It's horrid I know. I found trying the best I could to eat little and often kept it a little at bay but there were times when I just couldn't and it spiralled worse. I ended up getting the injection for sickness which meant I could start eating a little then going on ondansetron when I could swallow pills again. Also i kept a bag of skittles in my pocket and just ate one at a time almost constantly- it was sometimes enough to stave it off! I somehow managed not to punch the 100th person who asked if I'd tried ginger biscuits!

I lost a few stone from sickness and was worried so kept asking if my baby would be ok. Everyone said absolutely yes and she would take all the nutrients she needs first. She is now a healthy 2 year old! Hope it eases soon

Pregnancy Sickness Support is a great charity - their website offers really good information.

You poor thing, it really is grim. It won’t hurt your baby though. I found being well rested helped, if that is possible for you.

Honestly, the vomiting is horrible.
No, it wont harm your baby. If you find the cyclizine doesn't work, go back to your GP and ask for something else- there are several different medications available and not all work for all people- sometimes you need a combination of 2 different ones. Don't let them fob you off! (Which they did to me, I had horrendous sickness for 24 weeks, tried Xonvea, didn't work, and GP just said good luck to you...)

It is awful, but hang in there. it will get better!
