Hi,
I am 13 weeks pregnant & I can't stop eating I am so worried that I will harm my baby if I carry on! Could this be a disorder? Yesterday I ate 7 bags of wotsits I just can't stop! Is this normal I am extremely worried and constantly hungry! I can finish a huge box of strawberries in one sitting & still want more. I didn't eat from weeks 8-11 bcoz of sickness but now I can't seem to stop. Can someone pls explain if I should seek help?

Women react to pregnancy in different ways. I could barely eat at all during my first trimester, another person I know couldn’t stop eating (it was the only way to manage the nausea). However, just after giving birth I became addicted to sugar and chocolate. I could eat an entire packet of jaffa cakes in one sitting! I had to stop bringing chocolate into the house and it took ages to lose the weight again.

I’m no health expert but it sounds like your body is trying to make up for the weeks you couldn’t eat. I had all sorts of strange cravings during my pregnancy. If possible I would try to eat a more balanced diet when you feel able to.

P.S. You will be unlikely to harm your baby, but you can always invest in some pregnancy multivitamins if you are concerned. Are you taking Folic Acid and Vitamin D tablets?

Hi, thank u for replying. I have heard the same from friends that I am making up for the weeks I couldn't eat. I haven't been taking any vitamins during my sickness period they would make me more nauseous. Should I start taking them again?

As a minimum I would take a Folic Acid & Vitamin D combination. Pregnancy multivitamins can be very expensive, but you may be able to get a cheap version from Boots or Superdrug. I started taking them because I was worried about my lack of eating.
