Sex whilst pregnant

I’m just wondering how often people had sex whilst pregnant? This is our first child, me and my partner have sex about once a week at the moment. I was tired a lot through my first trimester and although I’m less tired now (I’m 20 weeks) I still don’t have the energy I used to. He is also quite busy with work at the minute. It isn’t impacting on our relationship, we still cuddle and are affectionate all the time. But I’m just wondering if it’s normal for sex to tail off a bit in pregnancy?

Of course it is, between symptoms, discomfort, tiredness, etc.

Less sex is completely normal & more sex is completely normal. There are no rules! You may even find that it changes drastically at different points during your pregnancy or it may not! Xx

Dp didn’t want to, he said he knew it sounded silly but he felt like he was poking the babies - I on the other hand was like a dog on heat🙄

Perfectly normal.

Ours was normal until 14wk when I had a bleed after so I just didn't want to, this baby follows miscarriages. We did again at 28wk and still are now at almost 38wk but not often as dh has been working away a lot so not much opportunity. Not the easiest being as big as a house and short sessions are preferable now. Our baby will be delivered Tuesday at the latest so he'll have to make do without again for while.

I found when I had my morning sickness for around 2 weeks it was a no go
I have a few friends who are also pregnant and aren’t having sex at all
I seem to have gone the other way
I’m currently 12 weeks and from about week 8 I want it all the time
Has anyone else experienced this? Though sometimes I get a crampy stomach afterwards so as much as I’m loving the increased sex drive this also worries me

First trimester was hard and we didn't do anything for 2 months straight. Longest ever in our ten year relationship. But there was just no way. Pre-pregnancy we were averaging 4 times a week I'd say (more with work from home lol) so this experience has been a bit of a shock! We're fine though. It is how it is.

We had sex one my entire pregnancy, I had a difficult pregnancy and was generally ill most of it so I didn’t have the energy.
The time we did was at full term and an attempt to get the baby out, he wasn’t keen so I persuaded him. It lasted all of around 3 seconds but I was so uncomfortable I shouted get off i don’t like it 😂

We had sex twice in my entire first trimester - once before i knew i was pregnant. between the morning sickness, exhaustion and just anxiety on both our parts we weren't in the mood.

14 Weeks and things starting to feel better but still once a week now max really compared to 3-4 times a week pre pregnancy

Totally normal

I was sick as a dog and exhausted until half way into 2nd trimester so it was a hell no til then, did couple of times in second trimester, now in 3rd trimester and it's hell no again - I'm back to exhausted and logistically isn't going to happen when I am the size of a house! :)

I’m never to ill for sex unfortunately for my husband

I am finding my sex drive is higher than ever now in my second trimester 🙈

Ha ha thank you for your replies, I feel like it can go either way! My friend said she’s only had it 3 times since she found out she was pregnant (she’s now 32 weeks) but I just wanted a few more to compare against! My energy is slowly creeping back up as I get further into 2nd trimester so I’m hoping I get my libido back soon (at least partially)

I found that it didn't impact my sex drive at all, though towards the end I preferred certain positions as some were too uncomfortable.

@Rach888 I think it's completely normal for your sex life to drop a little in pregnancy. Also given that period of TTC right before pregnancy involves a lot of sex, the sudden change can seem more drastic 😅 we're about once a week now whereas before it was multiple times a week.
