Anyone caught Covid in the first trimester

Hi,

Has anyone caught Covid in the first trimester?
Or know anyone who has?

I'm currently panicking as my selfish partner decided to go to the gym with his friend. Knowing his friend had been around someone who had tested positive for Covid. Today his friend who he goes to the gym with has tested positive.

I'm really annoyed with him, as I'm 11 weeks pregnant. Had an extremely difficult first trimester with HG. And I just think his been so careless.

I did have Covid back in November 2020, thankfully I didn't get really sick, just cold and flu symptoms.

I have not had the vaccine as I wanted to wait until the baby is born.

I would very seriously reconsider getting the vaccine. Covid can be very dangerous for pregnant woman, especially in the 3rd trimester, and the vaccine is now highly recommended. I hope you haven't caught it from your partner.

I had it at 9 weeks, it wasn’t fun combined with early pregnancy symptoms. I wasn’t planning on getting vaccinated and was going to shield instead. I’ve had my first jab now as it made me realise there’s no real way to shield, I caught mine going to the supermarket as I’d stopped going everywhere else.

I had it when I was 7 weeks, I'd had both jabs so my symptoms were not that bad. The first couple of days I had a bit of a temp (no more than 37.5) but I kept that down with paracetamol. Also just felt very stuffed up and tired, but not sure if that was COVID or pregnancy symptoms. I was back to normal after a week and even my sense of smell came back after 2 weeks. I think the main thing is to keep your temperature at a safe level cause fever is what can harm the baby the most.

I had it at 7 weeks & I havent had any vaccinations. It was a very mild case but the worst thing was I felt crap anyway from the pregnancy. Like pp said, in the first trimester the biggest risk from covid is your temp.

I had around 15 weeks and it was awful. I had a really high temperature, my entire body hurt. I could barely eat so lost 3.5kgs ish. The coughing was horrible, I’ve never felt so sick in my life. I was due to get vaccinated the week I got it. I tried calling 111 and couldn’t get through for hours. I was so weak I could barely make it upstairs from the kitchen and needed to stop halfway through. My husband caught it at the same time but he had one vaccine so wasn’t as bad as I was. It’s been 3 weeks and I’m still not 100% and only just getting over the dehydration. I would really think about getting the vaccine. There’s no way I could have coped later in pregnancy.

Get the vaccine. You'll pass antibodies on to the baby as well.

Sorry to hear you've had a hard trimester first trimester OP. I had a friend catch covid early in her second trimester and she had a terrible time and had to have 4 days in hospital in oxygen, lost a fair bit of weight and was tired and breathless for weeks afterwards ruining the rest of her pregnancy.
As others have advised, I would strongly recommend getting your first jab asap, please have a conversation with your midwife or obstetrician about it.
Is your partner going to get a PCR? Are you trying to keep your distance until he does?

Had the delta variant in second trimester (havnt been jabbed) and it was a low level fever and cold symptoms took around 10 days to fully clear.

I had it at 9 weeks, currently 37 weeks. It really knocked me out, i was too weak to hold my head up when on the loo. I've been breathless since then, and my taste and smell are still wonky...

Thankfully baby seems to be fine, fingers crossed.
