Larger AC (stomach) measurement at 20w scan

Had my anomaly scan today and it was great - all okay which is a relief and so pleased with.
All of her measurements are towards the lower end (I’m petite so not surprising, my son was the same) but the sonographer made a remark to say she had a ‘cuddly stomach’ as it’s on the 86th centile. So larger than the rest which sit at 29th/31st.

She said it’s still within the realms of normal so she’s not concerned but obviously it’s ticked over a little in my head! Has anyone else had this? I’m glad all is ok and there’s no re scan booked but yea, just tinkling over in my head!

@tuxedocat I had this and now by 35 weeks baby's tummy is in line with growth so don't worry if they aren't x

I had this too. I'm 23 weeks now and not had any further scans and the sonographer didn't even mention it at the scan for me I just noticed on the paperwork they gave me that that their other measurements were around 30% and their tummy was 85%. The sonographer did spend a long time measuring my little ones tummy and they said that abdominal measurements are the measurements that sonographers famously over measure, so it might be this. Also if baby has taken a big gulp of amniotic fluid before the scan etc their tummy will look bigger.
I was going to speak to my midwife at my next appointment just to ease any worries I have but think it is relatively normal and as PP said it might be that they catch up/equalise as time goes on.

My sonographer mentioned this to me too at our scan and when I looked on the paperwork at the end the marker was off the end of the line! She didn't seem overly concerned though but said I may need a test for gestational diabetes to make sure it's not that. I'm hoping it's just because he's going to be a big healthy boy like my first son!

Thanks ladies!

@iverunoutofinspiration so glad to hear your baby has levelled out! I know it’s still early days but had my head niggling a little

@PlantMummy87 thank you! I did read the same and she did measure a few times but didn’t say anything negative - she did reassure us it was way within normal but it still plays on your mind! Good idea about asking MW - I won’t see mine until 28w now so a while but I’ll try to remember to ask. I didn’t think about the gulps of amniotic fluid at all which could make sense. Baby spent a lot the scan in the weirdest position ever which I guess may not have helped!

@burtle4 ah I didn’t even think about gestational diabetes! No one has mentioned to me about it so I suppose that’s a good thing. Glad to hear it’s common, it’s put my mind to rest!
