Glucose in urine 37 weeks

Just been to my maternity unit for reduced movement and had a urine check whilst there where they found glucose in it.

I'm 37+4 and I have a midwife appointment on Tuesday so the lady said to just let her know to check and if it's found again she will decide what to do from there.

I had so many questions about what glucose in urine means, what could the midwife possibly want to do if it is found etc as it's the first Iv heard of it during my pregnancy but they couldn't get me out fast enough.

So here I am hoping someone on here can shed some light on what could possibly happen please? TIA

It might not mean anything, possibly just one of those things which is why they are saying wait until your next appointment. But if your next test is also showing glucose they will probably send you for a glucose tolerance test to check if you have gestational diabetes. If you do they may decide to see if you can control it with diet or tablets. It normally disappears when you have delivered.

But you might not have it. I had 2 urine tests with glucose at 34 weeks. Got given a leaflet about healthy eating, but didn't have gestational diabetes.

I was in hospital last week and the lady sharing my room had glucose in her urine at 31 weeks. They put her on an insulin sliding scale and she was discharged with home insulin.

I had glucose in my urine all through third trimester. I had two GTTs and both negative for diabetes. It's really common to have it but it doesn't mean diabetes

@beepingel I had glucose in mine at my 37 week appointment yesterday but it was because I had eaten a load of chocolate before the sample 🙈. What had you eaten prior?

@SS123456 that's actually very interesting as I'd had some donuts and a sugary drink before going in so I wonder if that's why! Hopefully it's all clear on Tuesday and nothing more needs to be done 🤞🏼
