No obvious baby movement at 20 weeks

This is my first baby and I haven't felt any obvious baby movements yet (20 week scan was all well and good and she was showing healthy)

When did everyone else feel their babies first kicks?

It massively varies... I Googled desperately to find some kind of average but there just doesn't seem to be one! And a lot depends on where your placenta is, too. If it's anterior, it can make it be much later.

Some people are lucky - one of my friends felt movement from 16 weeks with her first, another is 23 weeks and hasn't felt anything yet, but all seems fine with her scan, so it's just a waiting game until baby moves strongly enough for her to be able to feel it.

It is frustrating, but it'll be worth the wait Flowers

For me it was one kick at Exactly 20 weeks but it wasn't a lot. 22 now and feeling it a lot more regularly

Thefaceofboe · 29/07/2021 13:52

I felt first movements at 16/17 weeks where as my friend who’s due similar time didn’t feel a thing till 23 weeks. My baby is also measuring small so you’d think it would be the other way round! There really is no normal but once they start, they don’t stop Grin

I honestly couldn’t have been confident at 20weeks that if felt anything at all. By about 24/25 I started feeling them more consistently.

Hi I'm due a similar time as you (13/12) but with my third baby. If it was my first I wouldn't have known that what I am occasionally feeling are baby movements. I only know because I've had two babies before, it's still very subtle. Like PP have said it depends on where your placenta is if it's anterior (at the front) then it can muffle the movements and you feel them later. X

santabetterwashhishands · 29/07/2021 14:06

I didn't even know I was pregnant with my third until I felt a kick at 25 weeks 😂
But the first two I only felt light flutters until about 22 weeks x

Hunkydory99 · 29/07/2021 14:18

First baby 22 weeks. Tho I think I’d felt them earlier but didn’t know that’s what I was feeling until I really felt them if that makes sense. Second baby 17 weeks but I was slimmer and knew what I was feeling.

I had my 20 week scan yesterday and baby was moving around constantly but I couldn’t feel a thing

Exact same as me! They said she's a proper wriggler but I can't feel her at all 🙈

Yeah she said I think you have a gymnast, legs everywhere

Peachee · 29/07/2021 15:40

Give it a couple of weeks I was the same in both of my pregnancy because I had an anterior placenta. I think around 22-23 I started feeling very light flutters.

Ednadidit · 29/07/2021 18:58

I didn’t feel anything until about 21 weeks and then found it became gradually more obvious over the following weeks. Also, for me it felt like popcorn kernels popping, rather than ‘flutters’ and the first few times I thought it was a stomach rumble 😂

Frazzled2207 · 29/07/2021 18:59

22wks with dc1
MUCH earlier with dc2

Jfw82 · 29/07/2021 20:47

I had an anterior placenta both times and both times was 22-24 weeks before I was confident that I was feeling baby move at all

clickychicky · 29/07/2021 20:53
