Hi

I’m hoping some of you mummy’s out there may be able to share any experience of round ligament pain.

I’m currently only 7 weeks pregnant and all last night and today I have been experiencing sharp throbbing pain low down in pelvic area. I have googled and looks like it could be RLP but most sites are saying that this doesn’t start until 2nd trimester. I’m very anxious as I suffered a miscarriage in November and 2 prior to that also. I have a daughter who his 4 but cannot remember these pains this early on.

Has any one else experienced this? Should I be concerned?

Thanks xx

I'm around 7/8 weeks and first thing in the morning I get sharp pain or two. Mildly uncomfortable but like mild period pains. If you are very nervous I would call your GP or EPU but unless your spotting and the pain is on the high scale it's probably just bits moving making way for the little one to get comfy. I rang my midwife and my mum ( who is a nurse ) and they say it's fairly common early on.
Hope you're OK x make sure to drink plenty and rest up.

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

I had round ligament pains very early in both of my pregnancies. In fact, with my second, it's how I found out I was pregnant. I coughed and felt the pain which I'd only ever experienced whilst pregnant, so took a test which was positive - that was around 6 weeks and I had no idea I was pregnant before that.

I get round ligament pain as one of my first symptoms from 4 weeks on because I'm hypermobile, but it never lasts longer than a few minutes at a time, even if another jabby one comes back again after it no one pain is ever constant for hours.

Thank you so much for your messages. I have rung the EPU who have told me to get to A&E to rule out ectopic pregnancy. Pains don’t seem to be easing so not feeling very hopeful 😢 I’m gutted 😢

Thank you @Cakeandslippers. Thankfully pregnancy not ectopic and even saw a little heartbeat. I’m now on progesterone supplement due to 3 previous miscarriages. Really praying and hoping that everything will be ok. The anxiety is very real 😕 xx
