12 weeks pregnant and brown discharge

Hi,

I'm 12 weeks pregnant and I have noticed brown discharge charge over last few days. It comes and goes. so had it on Friday- than normal white discharge and today it saw it was dark brown
Tried calling EPU, could not get through.

Has anyone else had brown mucus discharge around 12 weeks?

Any advice would be great

Hey! I’m around 13 weeks and had similar over the weekend. I went to the toilet and noticed that there was brown, stringy discharge (sorry tmi!) when I wiped- it only happened a couple of occasions but freaked me out as I was experiencing a bit of tenderness in my abdomen too. I contacted out of hours GP (as EPU in my area don’t take self-referrals) and they were really reassuring. Basically I’ve had a urine sample tested (which showed trace of blood but they have no concerns about that) and I’ve had some internal swabs done to test for infection. I booked a private scan on Sunday as I was beside myself waiting and baby was happily lying there “just chilling” as the sonographer kept saying. I’ve got my 12 week nhs scan tomorrow, which I’m nervous for but definitely more reassured after the private scan.
I’d suggest to ring your midwife and perhaps your GP if suitable. The likelihood is that they will tell you to monitor it and get back in touch if anything changes but I always find it helpful to speak to someone.
Try not to stress too much (I know it’s hard!) but from all the research I’ve done, it seems quite common and could easily be a sign of infection (which is common in pregnancy). I hope you’re okay x

I had this and was fine. I went to hospital and my cervix was closed. They then scanned me a few days later

@AllSinging I had an infection screen (similar internal swabs) couple months ago for sti and that was all clear.
The discharge is odourless.
I had my dating scan yesterday and everything was normal
Just worried that the cervix could open up or something like that

@Supernova18 how long did your discharge last?

Ok. Could be helpful to have a swab for a general infection too (it’s not always an sti). Speak with your midwife if you’re concerned but sounds like everything is okay

I had this for a few days around 11-12 weeks, it has passed and I am now 20 weeks :) Midwife told me if I am not getting pains I should be ok! try not to worry! x
