Hi,
I'm in my first trimester but all I am craving is carbs, fatty and salty foods atm! Im trying my very best not to indulge too much but finding it really difficult to stomach healthy food like salad and fruit because I end up just feeling sick! I normally love fresh veggies and fruit so you can imagine it is very frustrating!
I am looking for tips on eating healthy while I'm going through this phase of my pregnancy?

Thank you :)

Probably not what your wanting to hear but my advice would be to just eat what you want ATM. Whatever you can stomach. It's not going to harm you to have, I'd say it's better than eating something that makes you sick?
You'll be able to make up for it in a couple of weeks time when your aversions calm down.

I wouldn't worry about it too much in the early stages. Eat what you can and improve your diet as you start to feel better.

I was terrible the 1st 16 weeks. Nausea, extreme fatigue and couldn't stand the smells of cooking. Carb loading and convenience foods are not great for me. I gained 2.5st early on but once those things passed I got back to my healthy meals and my weight stayed around the same weight until recently, I'm 37wk now and gained a few more pounds but had swelling so could just be water weight. I have stayed quite active throughout this pregnancy which has helped me control fat gain. I was powerlifting twice a week until almost 36wk despite spd/pgp, booked in for elcs in 2 weeks so don't want to risk pushing myself in to early labour lifting heavy now. Still doing all household stuff and walking the dog though the hips make it painful and have slowed me down loads.

Honestly, eat what you need to / want during the first trimester. I ate awfully during the first trimester, as I could only stomach certain things due to sickness, and the constant nausea meant I was eating SO much food just to keep the nausea at bay. I was also deathly tired, so I had no energy to cook proper meals or go for exercise.

Now I am in the second trimester and starting to get my energy back, not feeling as sick (haven't thrown up in 5 days - a record so far, and the nausea is dying down), and therefore I have been able to start eating a bit better and getting a bit more exercise.

Trust me. Enjoy the unhealthier foods now while you can, and then when things get easier, start to switch to healthier options. The first trimester is hard enough, without having to watch what you're eating too! x

Just eat what stays down.
