I’m 32 weeks in my second pregnancy my whole left side is struggling I have had cramp so bad In my legs it’s actually bruising areas on my calf. TMI but I have a varicose vein on the left side of my vagina which is sore, I have no strength in that side of my body anymore. I have had pain all up the left side of my bump, I saw the consultant yesterday and they have said it’s all muscular. They have given me a prescription for codeine has anyone else taken this in pregnancy? Can anyone advise me? I’m in a right mess I’ve got a toddler who needs me to be ok but everything just really hurts. I’ve had hyperemesis in this pregnancy and I just can’t wait for baby to be safely here so I never have to do this again. Any advice is welcome, thank you

I've got PGP and had arthritis

I was on very strong medication prior to falling pregnant

I have recently been prescribed codeine (just 15mg) I have taken one tablet maybe 5 times in last 3 weeks when I've been absolutely desperate

Dr said its not ideal to take it and to only take it when I really need to

I'd be getting checked for blood clots. Has that happened??

I took codeine for pgp which made me housebound. Took it when the pain was too much to fall asleep. Avoided once due date approached, but took it when I really needed it. Tried to get the balance between me and baby.

My leg cramps were so uncomfortable in pregnancy, and same as most women sometimes I was unable to sleep with that and stretching ligaments and all else.

Just wondering, is the left leg more swollen than the right?
Are the areas of bruising on your left leg warm to touch and red ? If so get checked at doctor as the leg pain may not be cramps but something else such as deep vein thrombosis.

Weird angle but this is the back of my calf. I have a history of DVT in my family so will be on blood thinning injections after birth again I believe. I had blood tests done yesterday I don’t know what they actually checked for but would it of shown up anyway? Not particularly swollen that side but I do have a UTI which I’m on antibiotics for so I am quite warm anyway which I presume is because of the infection. My first pregnancy was so easy!!!

Can you measure around left calf and right calf and then left thigh and right -should be even.
It’s enough to have the leg cramps and abdominal weakness and leg pain, but with UTI too no wonder you are tired and over it all Hope UTI clears up soon.
It’s a struggle last few months, our bodies go through so much.

Sorry missed you that said there’s no swelling in leg- that’s good.
Sometimes drinking lots more water really helps cramps
If you have a temperature not sure if that can be due to the UTI spreading but hope improves very quickly with antibiotics

Old wives tale but it worked for me

I didn't have clot issues just PGP and leg cramp. Eat bananas it made the leg cramp a lot less. I managed PGP with not doing a lot, paracetamol and muchos swearing but again no clotting/ bruising.

My mum also suffers with cramp and hates bananas but even she will eat them now when she knows she's overdone it iyswim.

I found it easiest to get down the stairs on my bum like a toddler ( that made my daughter laugh). Also when turning over in bed turn under instead looks weird but much less pain/ pressure
