Hi, so I know I am very early but I woke this morning and I felt wet , I wiped and there was bright red blood just enough to cover the whole tissue. Since then after I’ve wiped it’s been pink and trailed off. Last year I had an ectopic resulting in the removal of my right tube as ruptured and then in February I had a scar pregnancy(rare form of an ectopic)

I’ve phoned the early pregnancy unit and they won’t see me until I’m 7 weeks or in severe pain. Anyone else had similar or positive stories. I just feel so lost at the moment.

I’m so upset and so scared to lose my remaining tube.

I think that’s really bad of your EPU. Mine saw me straight away when I fell pregnant after ectopic. Might be worth contacting your GP so see if they can refer you into EPU sooner than they will see you, if that makes sense? Shocks me that they would make you wait knowing your history! That being said, it is very common to have a bleed early on. Best of luck, let us know how you get on xx

Peachee · 27/07/2021 10:27

I would call GP too and say you feel distressed. Based on having a previous ectopic you should be seen as a priority xx

TakeYourFinalPosition · 27/07/2021 10:33

My EPU has a similar policy - they won't see you before 8 weeks unless you're in severe pain, and they won't do scans before 10 weeks unless you're bleeding quite heavily - they will see you and check your cervix, though.

I don't know if it'll be any help at all, but I bled at 6 weeks and 10 weeks. I'm now 19+2 and everything is fine with baby - they put the bleeding down to being my cervix, and it seemed to settle outside of the first trimester.

Definitely call your GP if you're concerned that it might be ectopic again.

Best of luck to you Flowers

Thanks everyone. I’ve literally been balling my eyes out all morning. I think it’s the waiting in limbo for another week and a half. The bleeding has only been very light when I’ve wiped. I’m super paranoid that all my symptoms have gone though ☹️. What will be will be I guess not much I can do. I may ring the docs, partner wants me to say that I do have severe pain just so that they check me but I’m not sure I could lie about it! X

I really am shocked that they’re not seeing you sooner given what you’ve already been through. I would call the gp if it was me and see if they can give them a nudge, bearing in mind you’ve already had the life threatening condition twice! I’ve got everything crossed for you that this baby is in the right place and is a-ok. Try not to worry about your symptoms, mine come and go regularly. I was throwing up yesterday but feel fine today, and did on Sunday too! Xx

Mamamamasaurus · 27/07/2021 12:08

My EPU saw me in my pregnancies after my ectopic because I lost a tube and if you've had one EP, you're susceptible to a second.

I know it's probably not recommended but can you fudge your dates a bit to appear 7w?

iloveicelollies · 27/07/2021 12:10

Awful that they won't see you. Would you consider paying for a private early scan in these circumstances. You'd probably get an appointment quickly.

iloveicelollies · 27/07/2021 12:11

Also symptoms do come and go so try to not focus on that. Know it's hard though. No pain is a good sign. Hope you're ok.

KG89 · 28/07/2021 13:08

So again I’ve woken up and exactly the same thing has happened and stopped like before. Still no pain. My friends are saying I should take tests to check if the line is faint etc but to be honest I can’t be bothered with the faff of it. I think I’ve lost it and just need to try and accept it. We live quite far away from and early testing place so prob won’t do that, kind of preparing myself for a big bleed eventually. Really thought this would be 3rd time lucky. Thanks for all your messages I’ve found a lot of support and comfort through this site. I will try to keep you updated when I have scan on the 6th and for anyone with similar issues in the future searching for help. Wish you all the best xx

What a stressful experience, I'm very sorry. I had the same thing last week, bright red bleeding at 5+4, along with mild cramping, but I was lucky in that the EPU agreed to scan me at 6 weeks.

It turned out to be a subchorionic haematoma (blood clot). It's a fairly common cause of bleeding in the early stages of the first trimester, and the nurse stressed it wasn't harmful to me or the baby (baby was fine). I appreciate you may find it easier to prepare for the worst (I know I did, it helped me protect myself mentally as I've had a previous mc), but I just wanted to put that out there as a potential cause.

I wish you all the very best, and a speedy passing of time between now and your scan. x

Supernova18 · 28/07/2021 23:17

I bled. They say if it fills a sanitary towel and is bright red to worry. It could be implantation bleeding you are experiencing. That’s awful of the EPU. Tell them you’re in pain

SillyBry · 28/07/2021 23:58

That is how my ectopic began… I would be tempted to ring them again and stress that you only have 1 tube left. You need this checking as a priority in order to give you the best chance to save your last tube if it is ectopic. The earlier it’s caught the better.
My EPU was only doing early scans for ectopic rule outs when I had to go last, which meant I was scanned at 5+4 to rule out another ectopic.
Failing that, I would pay for a private scan as you just want to rule out it’s nothing untoward
Wishing you lots of luck xxx

Hi guys, just a quick update. I have since been on the phone to my GP who has basically said bleeding can be normal for some people and not to worry unless I have pain. I’ve also had a funny foul smelling discharge along with bleeding so phoned epau and they are telling me this is normal. -even though from what I’ve read online it can mean infection and can be dangerous. So I’m still no further just counting down the days. Feels like no one is too concerned or bothered to help.

Thank you for your replies, I have tried to get in for a private scan and they can only do a day before the hosp can so not much point. My symptoms seem to be very strong still and I was sick this morning so that’s a good sign I suppose x

Paperfleur - I’m glad it’s all good for you., I’ve never heard of one of those before, hope all goes well. X

I’m experiencing something similar atm with bleeding. The GP estimated me to be 9wks but from dates i sat and worked out yesterday I should only actually be 5/6 wks… it seems so varied that some people bleed and it’s normal & others it’s the start of a miscarriage. I initially thought the colour of the blood was the telling factor but again some women bleed bright red and have a successful pregnancy, others not.

My local EPU spoke to me over the phone but haven’t seen me so can relate with the worrying feeling. I think just try and rest up as much as you can & see how things are in a week from now? Our body’s are strange but wonderful things - I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. Good luck Flowers x

KG89 · 06/08/2021 13:54

Hi everyone , I’ve been for the scan and all is well!!! We saw baby and heartbeat. It turns out I have a subchronic haematoma (same as you paperfleur). I’m in such shock. They have said if I still continue to get bleeding after another 2 weeks then I need to ring the epau again so not completely out of danger zone yet but feel a lot better than I did before. Still having bright red, brown pink blood but fingers crossed.

Good luck 23 preggo and all you other mummas xxx

@KG89 That's fantastic, congratulations on seeing a happy little baby! I hope the SCH resolves itself easily for you. After my scan with EPU at 6 weeks, I had a private scan at 7 weeks which showed that the bleed was resolving. Since then (I'm 8+4 now) I've just had some brown discharge every day which whilst being a bit annoying is reassuring in a way, as the sonographer said to expect that whilst the bleed sorts itself out.
I hope your bleeding also tails off and that the rest of your pregnancy is calm and smooth sailing!
