Does anyone have any remedies for itchiness in pregnancy? Every night when I’m in bed trying to settle I get an overwhelming sense of itchiness across my body. It stops me from falling asleep. I went to triage yesterday and they’ve done all my blood tests for OC and liver function test etc but all came back normal. Now trying to find a solution. I’m 32 weeks and the thought of another 8 weeks of this is terrifying

What you are describing is how my OC started.

Please ask to be monitored.

It took 4 weeks from when the itch started at 30 weeks for my bile acid to rise, and that can be normal. Luckily my midwives knew and tested me weekly. It was much worse at night and I couldn’t sleep.

They recommended staying cool/ a cool bath/ and gave me aqueous cream with methanol (you can buy in a pharmacy/ online).

I was also prescribed urso acid and antihistamines once diagnosed. I’d not recommend taking antihistamines unless prescribed, and they don’t take away the itch, but they did knock me out for about 4 hours.

So it may not be, in which case moisturise/ aqueous cream with menthol. But please also ask to be monitored for as long as you are pregnant and the itch continues.
