Only yolk sac at 6 weeks and 2 days

So a week ago I had to go to the EPU as I was having pain in my shoulder I was roughly 5 weeks by there measurements, 5 weeks 2 days by my dates. Couldn't see much just the sac but she said that was normal. Before I had to go there I had booked an early private scan which was yesterday. By my dates I am 6 weeks 2 days. Anyway at the scan yesterday, there was a yolk sac but no fetal pole or heart beat. I have a rescan next week with EPU but waiting seems like forever. With my last pregnancy we could see a heart beat at my early scan. I guess I'm just worried, and was wondering if anyone had the same?

I had an early scan at 6 weeks and at the time didn't even see the yolk sac, it was just an empty gestation sac. I had a worrisome 2 week wait until the second scan to check if there had been any progress, and to my delight, saw the heart beat and limb buds and everything was measuring normally. I'm now 17 weeks.

I've been commenting on a few messages recently saying that the research/googling I did afterwards all suggested waiting until at least 7 weeks for the first scan to avoid what I went through, as at 6 weeks there's really no guarantee what you'll see and it can cause a lot of unnecessary worry.

Waiting definitely does feel like forever tho! I wish you good news at your next scan :)
