Hi guys!! Midwife said that I need to decide if I want screening for Down syndrome- what did everyone else do??
My mum is saying no but me and partner are unsure.

Just don't know what to think or what everyone else does - thank you in advance x

Just to add OP that it depends where in the UK you are regarding what testing you would be offered if your non-invasive screen came back as high risk. In Scotland (and possibly in Wales and some Trusts in England?) a woman with a high risk result would be offered the non-invasive NIPT blood test first to see if you really were high risk for DS, Edwards or Patau. It tests the foetal cells DNA in your own blood, so no risk of miscarriage involved. I have a friend who had a 1:14 DS risk from the initial screen and then had the NIPT which came back negative. No further (or invasive) testing required.

I'm a worrier and I knew taking tests would worry me - and seeing the number of threads on here agonising over the odds given and test results, I'm very glad I chose not to have the screening.

There are enough things to worry about in pregnancy without tests that are not completely necessary IMO...
