Or will I have to wait to be contacted?

You will have to wait a day or two.

@stopknockingonmydoor, in my area you hear the same day. I was told I would be contacted by phone if there was a diagnosis of GD and if I didn't hear anything, the result was fine. They should tell you at the test how and when you'll be told.

onemouseplace · 20/07/2021 18:09

I had my GD tests at the hospital and found out immediately after the second test and saw the dietician straight away.

I had mine today, didn't find out, said I should hear within a few days if I have GD if I don't hear anything should be all ok.

I was told I would only be contacted if I had GD. But I’m signed up to my NHS records through the NHS app and Patients Know Best, so I got an email notifying me my records had been updated later the same day. I went in and was able to see my blood glucose levels and knew immediately they were below the threshold for GD as I’d looked up in advance what the thresholds were. I’d highly recommend signing up to the NHS app and Patients Know Best (not the same as the covid NHS app) as it means you can see all your blood test results too, usually same day, as well as all your midwife and doctor appointments.

@CentralLondonPregnant that's interesting, is it this app? I actually downloaded it a few days so good to know I'd be able to see something on there Smile

Thanks to everyone who's took the time to reply! I'm secretly hoping they'll let me know in a day or two as I'm hoping for a McDonald's on the way home Blush

If it is GTT then it will be quite quickly if you have GD (I was told within 24 hours), if you don't hear anything back then it's good news!

I'm not sure on results timings if you have GD and it is just fasting/HBA1C which they are doing at my trust because of COVID. The nurse said I would hear within 7 days if I have GD. I've had two tests (16 & 26 weeks) and heard nothing back. x

Amz6219 · 21/07/2021 09:41

Sorry, that's pregnancy one with GTT and this is pregnancy two - didn't make that very clear! x

CentralLondonPregnant · 21/07/2021 10:12

Hi, yes that’s the app! I think you have to fiddle around with the settings to make sure you’re signed up to patients know best as well so you can see all the results. Can’t remember exactly how I did it now but if you play around you can probably figure it out!

Moominmiss · 21/07/2021 11:21

I’d second getting signed up the nhs app so you can view all your test results. My gp surgery had to give me an authorisation code though.

If I’d not had the app my GD diagnosis would have gone unnoticed!

I had my test, checked the results the next day and on the outside it said ‘normal’, I was interested to know what my level had been though so clicked on it to see the full result. I knew my fasting reading should be 5.3 or under, and mine was 6.5!

I waited the rest of that day to see if anyone contacted me but they didn’t. I ended up calling my midwife the next day. Over the phone she was like ‘oh yes it’s fine I can see it says normal’ so I told her to actually click on it and it was only then she was like ‘oh goodness me, yes that’s a GD diagnosis’. So had I not flagged it, it wouldn’t have been picked up!

I’m now on metformin and insulin as my fasting reading is the one I haven’t been able to control myself.

So for me, the app was 100% worth it!

@Moominmiss that's a worry isn't it! I'm so glad you realised the mistake Smile is it this bit that you mean, that I need to request from my GP?

@stopknockingonmydoor yes I think so. I’ve had the app a while now but I remember needing to ask my gp surgery to allow me access.

Definitely worth getting though!
