COVID vaccine and whooping cough vaccine

I’m due my whooping cough vaccine but have my next COVID vaccine booked for the beginning don’t August. My midwife doesn’t know if I can have them close together she’s suggested between a 1-4 week wait between the two and has suggested I call 119 which I have, but after 30 mins on hold I was cut off. I’ve tried googling but didn’t find any answers. Does anyone else know? I suspect I’ll need to postpone my COVID vaccine but obviously I’d really rather not postpone either.

I had my Covid jab on a Saturday and whooping cough 3 days later. I asked the midwife if this was okay as she wanted to do the whooping cough and she said she'd had it confirmed by GP it was fine, just in separate arms. No issues

I thought the guidance was to leave seven days between a Covid vaccine and any other? GP's very rarely up to date on vaccination guidelines.

My GP said 7 days between them and different arms. She didn’t immediately know and had to look it up and call me back, so I am reasonably confident in the answer!

I just booked my flu jab for autumn and it said to leave 7 days between a Covid vaccine and any other vaccine.

7 days - I was turned away from my first covid vaccine as I'd had the whooping cough vaccine 5 days previous. Was pretty cross as the questioning is only about the flu vaccine, but actually it turns out to be any vaccine.

Fab thank you so much. My midwife tried to look it up but said she couldn’t find the info!

Just to add to the consensus, I was told to wait a week between jabs, I ended up being two which was fine. I'm glad I had a good month between that and my next covid jab though as my arm ached for days after the whooping cough!

No other side effects from any of them though, I was all geared up for a day or two of feeling rough after the covids but nope, just an annoying arm for a day.

SillyBry · 19/07/2021 21:39

I believe they say 7 days so that they can attribute any side effects, if any, to the right jab!

General advice is 1 week between the covid vaccine (any type) and any other vaccine, so I would expect that to be the case for the whooping cough one too.
