Antenatal steroids impact on glucose levels?

Hi all - bit of a strange one for you. I had a scan which showed an increased abdom circumference at 35 weeks. Baby’s head and legs are also measuring 90% but his abdomen is 95%+. Previous scan at 31 weeks showed normal abdominal circumference and up until this point GTT and all bloods have been normal. I was referred for home glucose monitoring but before I could start this I was in hospital with suspected early labour pains. They administered steroids to help baby’s lungs develop.

I’ve heard that the steroids can impact blood glucose levels but don’t know a) how much and b) how long for. The diabetes midwife has advised to hold off measuring for “a few days” while the effects wear off but I’m also worried about having undiagnosed GD and doing further damage! Have asked to speak to a consultant but no luck yet.

Any advice or similar experiences?
