10 week scan and CRL 32.8mm is that normal

Hi,

I went for a dating scan, where I found out I was 10w 1d and CRL was 32.8mm ( I knew I would be around 10 weeks, as I have a long cycle).

Sonographer mentioned the foetus is on the lower side. I'm a bit worried by that comment. Does this have any affect in the ongoing pregnancy?

The scan was underwhelming, as the sonographer didn't explain anything and lasted 10mins. The heartbeat was 177bpm (is that normal?)

Hiya congratulations on your pregnancy ❤️ obviously I'm not a doctor so I don't know but at my early scan I was 10 weeks and 5 days and my baby's heart rate was 172bpm so 177 sounds normal :)

I suppose he just means the baby is on the smaller side of the scale for the week but I don't know if that means a lot at this stage. Your dating scan is usually done at 12 weeks which is the most accurate time to calculate gestation, will they be rescanning at 12 weeks?

Xx

Yes they will. Do you know what yours measured at 10 weeks, so I can put it in perspective

Your CRL seems ok to me, the norm for 10&1 would be 36 but that’s very very close. I just checked my scans at 9 weeks 3 day’s mine was 26.3mm and at 11 weeks 2 day’s it was 49.2mm. Heartbeat of 177 at that gestation is normal too. In the first few weeks I measured a bit smaller but knew my dates were exact as I had fertility treatment.
I’m 36 weeks pregnant now and baby is measuring 38 weeks so big rather than small

Just to put it in to perspective your CRL would put you at 9&6 or 10 weeks. So literally 1 or 2 day’s in the difference

Thank you all for your replies.Smile

I had one last question - I don't want to sound vein, but does lower than average CRL at 10 weeks affect the growth of the baby during pregnancy?
And also does it affect the height of the child as it grows up?
We are fairly tall in my family so just surprised its growing lower than average.

Sorry for what may be stupid questions

@Helpdesk3 at his gestation its actually more likely to be just a measurement error than anything! The differences between different weeks are miniscule

Hi @Helpdesk3 I know this is a little old but exactly same as you I went for my scan today at 10 weeks 1 day which thought I was 10+3 and measuring 32.8mm too did everything turn out ok for you? The sonographer told me that it was perfect what I am? X

Helpdesk3 · 28/10/2021 22:54

Yes I'm 25 weeks now and at my 12 week dating scan the baby reached 50th percentile.

I wouldn't worry. Easier said than done.

Also at 10 weeks, the scans are not accurate.
