Someone tell me im not crazy!!!

Sat at work. Crying.
Im suffering from perinatal mh issues and im just keeping it together, mh services are even keeping in touch to make sure im ok. My mum came over today. And basically told me our family friends know our baby name..

I DID NOT TELL THEM!
she mustve done, considering shes been living with them and she likes to drink a lot and gossip.

She told me i told them, and i point blank told her i didnt. She then incinuated i have memory loss issues. And told me she thinks im losing my mind.

I dont like getting mh help anyway and i dont like the idea of being labeled "crazy". She does this from time to time to avoid blame, but this time, its really got to me.

Please, i need to hear it from someone..

@Misssweetheart you are ok. Your mum knows it was her that told them and is trying to take advantage of your perinatal MH issue to deflect and avoid having to take responsibility for her mistake.

You aren’t crazy at all, your body is just overwhelmed with hormones right now!

You need to look up “Gaslighting”. That’s what she’s doing to you. You also need to keep yourself and your baby away from such a toxic person.

How far along are you @Misssweetheart? I’m guessing past 20 weeks if you’ve decided on a name?
There’s not going to be any point arguing with your mum about who told them, she will just double down on her position and you will end up feeling worse. Do you still love the name and want to use it?

My mum was the same @Misssweetheart. Luckily I was old enough to realize this before I got pregnant and I had learned to give her nothing to work with, or make stupid stuff up. (We called our first one “Cletus the Foetus” until it was born, knowing perfectly well that we were having a girl. 😉) I hope you don’t live with her!

@Misssweetheart you are doing amazing! You’re reaching out, getting help and talking on here - that takes some guts. You’re brave.

I’m also going through support with the perinatal mental health team and all I’ve heard is that it takes strength to ask for help and that is the complete opposite of crazy.

The fact that you have recognised that you haven’t been feeling well says to me that you’re hugely insightful, brave and you’re going to be fab with your little babe xx
