Baby measuring different “age” at scans… is it okay?

Hi all!

I had my proper “early scan” the other day. My last period was 9 weeks and 5 days ago, but little one is measuring 10+1. Cool!

The only thing that’s weird is that I had actually gone in a few weeks ago because I had some spotting. I was so relieved to see a heartbeat, but also surprised to see that the peanut was measuring FIVE days ahead of my my last period.

At that scan, they said they wouldn’t worry about changing due date, as they only do that if the difference is six days or more. And doctor seemed very happy with this last scan.

So on the first scan, it measured five days ahead, and now it’s measuring 3 days ahead. I guess it’s only a two day difference and not the most precise ultrasound but… is this okay? Did anyone else have the “measurement” dates switch up? I’m just relieved it’s measuring ahead.

Yes, at almost every scan! (I'm pregnant with my 4th)
They're always adding or taking a day or two away, they once measured me a whole week ahead of what the prior scan said I was. Really normal. Expect it to fluctuate slightly quite a bit. Congratulations x

Yes this is fine! I asked this question at my scan and sonographer said anything give or take a week is fine and normal!

My due date was a whole week ahead and I was given 3 dates in total.

Yes, it’s normal. At the same scan different parts of the body will measure different gestational as well, so they use the overall figures for dating.

Yep, I went in for my 12 week scan and came out at 13 weeks! And then DC still arrived early!

Completely normal. Baby is still small and a mm here or there can knock dates.
I have had four scans so far (IVF) and at my 7 week scan I measured 6+1 then had a private at 8 weeks and 10+5 and measured bang on for both of those and then had my official nhs dating scan at 13+6 and I measured 13+5 at that one.

Thank you so much everyone! So nice to know it’s nothing to worry about :)
