Your bump is very 'neat'

9 times out of 10 when I tell people how far along I am (33 weeks) I get a shocked look and 'oh your bump is very neat' - can someone please explain what this actually means ? 😂 I admit my bump is quite small but when I said that to someone she said 'oh no I wouldn't say you're small, just neat' ??? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh I got that last time and same again this (usually with an added 'small').

I think it's just when your bump looks like a football up your jumper- rounded and all sat on the front. I think it's meant to be a compliment saying that you haven't just expanded in general 😂

I get this all the time. I think it means I don’t look pregnant from behind.

It means you have a nice shaped bump but don’t look like a bloated whale everywhere else. It’s a compliment.
Some people just look really fat all over when pregnant. My mum had a neat bump with me, whale with my brother and yet we were almost identical birth weights.

I get this too, and did with my first pregnancy as well. Until, that is, I was about 38 weeks, at which point a strange man came up to me in a shop and told me that he'd been walking behind me for a while and couldn't believe what wide hips I had, but now that he could see I was pregnant it made sense. I think people are just really weird about pregnant bodies!

I had this when I was pregnant, it means you're all up front and don't look pregnant from behind. It's not a bad thing!

DammedifIdo · 08/07/2021 22:50

It means round but not big, more small/medium as you can have a very big round bump too.

saraclara · 08/07/2021 22:53

It's a good thing! And I'm sure you know it.

Thanks everyone, I gathered it was a good thing as it usually comes with a smile just never actually knew what it meant and no one can ever really explain what they mean - I think it's such as odd term to use to describe something 😂
