When will I come on my period...?

Hi all,

Me and my partner decided in May that after 6 years together we were ready for a baby. So when my pill packet finished in the last week of May, I decided not to continue, came on my period (which lasted 10-12 days like it usually does for me)

We then started trying for a baby, having intercourse 3-4 times a week (not loads, but we both work a lot), however I have yet to come on my period. I was suppose to come on at the end of last week, but still no sign I am coming on. I have taken a pregnancy test on the weekend and another today - both negative.

Slightly confused, has anyone else experienced similar? Will I come on and it's just taking longer than usual because I haven't been taking the pill? Am I pregnant but the tests just aren't showing it? As you can see, I'm probably overthinking it.

FYI, the pill I was taking was gedarel and had been taking it for a good 10 years (from the age of 16)

Any advice would be great and appreciated.
Soph

It can take a while for your periods to settle after coming off the pill. They usually count your 1st bleed as a “withdrawal” bleed and then say that typically periods will return to normal at around 3 months (but this can vary quite a bit for different people). Hope that helps! X

Thank you for your reply! I really do need to look into it more, but the pill packet instructions aren't very helpful. Does that mean I can still get pregnant even in this 'dodgy' period? X

@SophiePat it feels like a minefield doesn’t it! I got most of my info via researching it on the internet (forums, medical articles etc) as there’s really not a lot of info on the packets is there. Yes you definitely can! I came off the mini pill at the start of April, had a withdrawal bleed at the start of May and got my BFP at the start of June! So it can definitely happen ❤️ I’ve heard of people getting pregnant even before they’ve had any type of bleed so it doesn’t impact upon things. Good luck! X
