Chemical pregnancy/miscarriage & progesterone

Hi

Really sorry this is on the wrong topic, but I can’t find a link to the miscarriage topic

I have prev had 2 MMC & 1 chemical. I’m 6 weeks today, but the lines on my pregnancy test this morning have dropped dramatically compared to last week, so I am certain this is another chemical.

Been trying to look online for an answer to this question, but I can’t find anything & waiting for a call back from my gynaecologist (but also been waiting for him to call me since last week, so not holding out hope there)

Basically I’m just wondering if my bleeding will start naturally or if the progesterone will prevent this? I haven’t bled yet and I just can’t stand the thought of going through medical management again 😭

Thanks x

Hi, MsK89 - I'm so sorry you're in this stressful situation.

Progesterone can prevent a bleed from starting, but I'd recommend continuing with it until/unless your doctor advises stopping it. Hopefully they'll call you soon - waiting is horrible.

@Scirocco thanks replying and for letting me know, I couldn’t find anything on google or the information leaflet that came with it.

Feeling so down and lost tonight 😭

Sorry you are in this position OP, not sure if you have had or will have a beta hcg test to measure levels of pregnancy hormones which could help you know what is going on.

Here is a link to the board you were looking for in case you are sadly experiencing another MC.

Hi @Aranciata thanks for the link for the board I was looking for. Any idea why it doesn’t come up under ‘talk - becoming a parent’ when I search for it from the home page? Maybe I’m using this website wrong xx

Hi, I second what other posters have said, especially about not stopping yet until you know for certain. But wanted to just say that for me, when I had a MMC at 7 weeks, I found out at the scan so stopped taking progesterone and only then did I start to bleed a few days later. Not sure how typical my experience is though as, like you say, it’s difficult to find an answer. Fingers crossed for a good outcome but if not, I hope you’re okay and get the care and support you need.

It's not just you @MsK89 it is difficult to find (in my opinion) as it is under 'Talk - Body & Soul' so unless you've found it before I don't think people would know where to look.

MsK89 · 07/07/2021 06:30

Hi @Aranciata thank you, yes that is in a rather strange place isn’t it! xx

Thanks for your message @AutumnVibes I think yesterday I was very much in denial but I have retaken a test this morning and it’s very much close to negative now, so it’s another chemical. Will stop the progesterone today and hopefully things will start to happen naturally 🤞🏼 xx

I believe it is in body and soul so you don't have to go into the parenting boards, in case that should cause you distress when experiencing a miscarriage, I know that is the case for me but I appreciate everyone is different.

I'm sorry this appears to be a miscarriage, I have had a number myself so know it is difficult. Take care
