Hi! I am 8 weeks pregnant today.. 🥰
But.. I am having sharp shooting pains in my lower abdomen, sometimes right sometimes left.. they're not at all severe or anything but I'm worrying, is this normal, do I need to be scanned?! Anyone else have these?

Hello, congratulations! I'm pregnant for the first time and 15 weeks along. I've had all sorts of pains, including those you describe. It's really disconcerting when you just want everything to be ok, but I'm told it's normal. I think what you're describing are round ligament pains, whereby things are stretching and readying for your expanding belly. I also have a large fibroid and I wonder whether some of the pains I get are associated with that. It does all feel very cramped and full down there so it's bound to be uncomfortable. The only time I've really been concerned about a pain, I.e it was quite sharp and really quite painful, was when sneezing whilst laying down. That was a real shock! I brought it up at my 12 week appointment and the midwife basically told me to sit up to sneeze 😆

Oh I have had those laid down sneezes. 😳 also when I cough I have had them! My pains seem to have passed now, so I'm feeling more hopeful. Just roll on 12 weeks when I can see babba and see it's all okay! Congratulations to you also 🥰🥰 xxx
