Measurements gone from 90th to 10th centile 38w

Hoping someone can help / reassure me. I had a scan at 36w showing baby was measuring 90th centile. Today I had my 38w mw appointment and she measured my tummy and said it was 10th centile and my bump hasn't grown in 4 weeks?? She's referred me for another growth scan but is isn't until Thursday, that's the earliest they could get it in, but Im really worried something could be wrong? When I had my son he suddenly dropped weight in the last few weeks and they had to get him out quick so I'm wondering if the same is happening to this baby and it seems like 3 days is a long time to wait for them to check it out. What do you think? Still getting loads of movement from baby, if anything I'm getting more movements today than I have been before... Not sure what to think / do!

Fundal measurements are very unreliable. I wouldn't worry too much until you have had your growth scan.
If movement patterns have changed then it's worth ringing the maternity assessment unit, they may want you to go in for monitoring.

I was referred for growth scans with DS2 because he was 'too big' at my 20 week scan. First growth scan = too big, by the next scan they suddenly decided he was too small and so on. Eventually he followed a curve and it was decided the interim scan was an anomoly.

He was born 40+3 and was 8lb 14oz and completely healthy.

This time round I've had several growth scans and baby tracked perfectly against 50th centile for all 3 and i was discharged back to midwife. She hadn't been measuring my bump because of the growth scans, so first measurement was at 36 weeks... which shot up to above 100th centile.

We're ignoring it because the scans are far more accurate (though still a long way from a perfect science).

What I'm trying to say is that i don't think the two measurements are really meant to be compared so try not to worry. If they were really worried they would have you in before Thursday regardless of space.

Keep an eye on movements, but i suspect your scan will put things back on track. Sorry you have this worry so late on.

Thanks I called triage regarding the increased movements and am currently on the ctg
Looks like everything is OK though

So far I've found fundal measurements to be an absolute joke. I cannot believe they are still used as the main method for measuring fetal growth.

At my last MW appointment they measured me as small and showing absolutely no growth over 3 week period. I then had a growth scan 2 days later which showed baby measuring fine and actually in 90th percentile.

Before my growth scan my MW kept reassuring me that the lack of change in measurement probably didn't mean anything as the results are so unreliable 🙄.

As PP said try not to worry from measurements, wait and see what scan shows. Fingers crossed everything is fine x
