Would you go - or not? (possible MC)

I am 6 weeks today (I ovulated late so actually about 5+3/4).

I started earlier with light pink spotting and soon after it turned brown but was very light. I decided to book a private early scan for tomorrow to see if anything was visible. I paid £30 deposit and have to pay the other £40 tomorrow when I get there.

About an hour ago the bleeding turned red and is now very heavy. I have had cramps all day too so in my mind I have no doubt that I am miscarrying the baby.

My husband doesn't want me to go to the scan tomorrow as he thinks it will upset me to have the MC confirmed but part of me feels I should still go incase there's a chance?

Would you go or not?

Don't go.
Sorry for your loss xx

I wouldn't.
I have been to epau and had a mc confirmed before and it is like rubbing salt in the wound tbh.

Condolences and make sure you contact your GP if you have excessive or prolonged bleeding.

I honestly wouldn’t bother. It’s heartbreaking, and tbh even if everything was ok, at potentially only 5+4 it’s quite likely they wouldn’t see anything anyway.

I’d just wait it out, look after yourself at home, let your GP know so that it can be recorded on your file as a loss (as sadly if it happens again, they want you to have had 3 losses before they’ll offer any help).

Test again in a few days and you’ll likely see the tests getting fainter or go totally negative. If the bleeding gets heavy, as in filling a pad an hour, then contact EPU.

Sending hugs, been there so many times and it’s heartbreaking.

Just a word of warning in case you do go - twice I've had a scan while I've been bleeding and I've seen a heartbeat. A few days later I mc, so a 'good' scan could be good, but it can also give you false hope. I personally would wait it out at home, but be warned it can take a little while from when you start bleeding for a mc to happen. Unfortunately at this stage it is a waiting game. Wishing you all the best Thanks

I personally would go even if it was to be told I’d miscarried as when I did it gave me closure. Like other posters have said though, a negative test in a few days will have the same effect.

Thank you to all of you with your advice. I was not going to go but the bleeding died down very fast and quickly went to brown and was there only when I wiped and stayed that way this morning so I did decide to go based on that.

The sonographer was lovely and I explained the situation to her and she was very understanding and didn't waste any time in starting the scan. She found a sac straight away measuring 9mm and then managed to see the yolk sac and a baby measuring 2mm with a strong heartbeat. She did say that it was so small that if I had gone yesterday then we wouldn't have seen it!

She also had a very good look around and could see no cause of the bleeding and said everything looked good for my gestation of 5+4/5+5.

So, I remain cautious as PP mentioned having a good scan and then later MC but take this as a good sign for now.

Brilliant news @xprincessxjanetx I'm sorry, I hope I haven't made you too on edge. I just wish I knew that it was a possibility when it was me. I knew soon after the scan that it wasn't good news for me and my bleeding continued and got worse so it's very promising that yours has calmed down.

Just to add - I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant and I had a red bleed one evening and the following morning during this pregnancy at around 6.5 weeks. It was red but stopped quickly. I never found a reason for it, but blood doesn't always mean bad news

@xprincessxjanetx, I saw your post yesterday and didn't have any advice but was so hoping for good news - and hooray, thank you for letting us know!

I didn't want to get your hopes up, but I had an identical sounding experience at about the same time with my first. Big bleed, really painful cramps, convinced I was miscarrying but scan showed a heartbeat and no reason for the bleed.

The rest of the pregnancy was absolutely normal and never had another issue. So hoping the same for you!
