Pregnancy after Lletz help...mm removed?

Hi ladies,

Please may I have some help? I'm currently 17w pregnant and had a LLETZ in 2019 to remove CIN2 cells, I have been asked to find my report showing how much was removed (as was at a different hospital to where my antenatal care is so they don't have access to it) as if the measurement is over 10mm then I will need a cervical scan to check my cervix is ok for the pregnancy. This is the measurements, should I just be looking at the depth measurement of 10mm or is it the 34mm that they'll be looking at? Trying to work out if I'll be offered a scan or not. Sorry, new to all this and don't know what I'm looking for. Thanks all

I would give them all measurements 34x20x10 mm. I assume it’s height, width, depth.
I can’t remember what mine was thank you for reminding me, will have to look it up. I think the National guidance is anyone who has had a lettz has a cervical length scan at 20
Weeks. If it was a more than 2 or a wide excision then they scan more often.

34mm is usually the one and that’s quite a good length I think. I had same procedure and quite a lot removed, I got referred to consultant for both pregnancies, first one I had a cervical stitch, went to 41 weeks and my little boy now nearly 3 - midwives thought there were over cautious doing it! Now 33 weeks pregnant and I was just monitored, no stitch and all fine.

So basically, try not to worry, just get a referral ASAP after 12 weeks so they keep an eye on you xx

34mm is the measurement of what was removed, which seems high compared to what the docs said about the 10mm threshold? Glad your pregnancies went well, I am 17w and consultant led but they aren't sure if I need a scan, will depend what they think of these measurements of what was taken xx

Ahh sorry I was confused, in my experience they don’t usually look at what was removed, just the cervical length remaining in all the scans I’ve had and it only gets concerning if it goes under 25-30mm

Leo090813 · 29/06/2021 20:59

No that's okay! It's just my hospital are stingy with scans and will only do them based on how many mm was removed at the lletz, so was trying to work it out as they said over 10mm they'll scan me, but didn't know which one of those numbers to look at!

Just give the hospital the measurements they will know how to read them. But Ether way ur 10mm and over, push to be scanned ASAP guidelines are from 16 weeks. Have a look at a group called Incompetent cervix uk. We have loads of lady's that have had cervix removed so may be able help with reading it

Leo090813 · 30/06/2021 16:43

Thanku. I have given them and she said no way would have 34mm been removed without general anaesthetic so she doesn't get them either. Thanks, is that a fb group? I've just requested to join if so x

They also said they can't scan me until 21 weeks as they're so busy Sad I'm pushing for sooner but doesn't look like I'm getting anywhere

Yer I've just seen you have joined, also join the add on group pregnancy related as anything preg needs to do in that group x I would be pushing for them to see u before 21 weeks is not excitable, not ur prob they are busy they need to offer you the care u need. They can only intervene up 2 24 weeks if they is a problem
