I had gallstones with my first pregnancy, it was horrible tbh. I ended up in hospital a few times. Make sure you tell the drs how horrible it is, I downplayed it towards the end and ended up in hospital 3 days post birth with jaundice. I had my gallbladder removed 6 months later and it was a huge relief.

I was sent to the hospital a few wks ago, was left waiting for four hours for an ultrasound by which time I had eaten a sandwich and then was told they couldn't not scan because I had eaten. I am so afraid they will say I need surgery, I really don't what that when I'm pregnant. Were you given anything for it through your pregnancy?

Hi @Jonah83, sorry to hear you're having a tough time! I had my gallbladder removed in December last year after some horrendous attacks. I'm 22 weeks now and I couldn't imagine having those whilst pregnant so I really feel for you. I'm pretty sure they won't do the surgery while you're pregnant though, my friend had to wait until after she had given birth. So I wouldn't worry so much about that, I think they will just provide pain management, so definitely worth speaking to the doctor if you can xx

Thanks so much for your reply. My GP is waiting on my results back from my ultrasound when I eventually get called for it. I'm eating well so I can't figure why it's acting up so much. Did your friend have alot of attacks while pregnant?

@Jonah83 she got them every few weeks I believe, but she did know what triggered hers and what foods to avoid. Hope they get you in for an ultrasound soon! Xx

I had my first attack when I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago at 24 weeks. I ended up being blue lighted to A&E 3 times in a week when I was 3 weeks postnatal. 3 weeks later it was confirmed by scan/blood tests that my gallbladder had completely collapsed so ended up having surgery to remove it. So relieved I wasn’t waiting any longer as I was in horrendous pain. I had a similar pain when I was about 21 weeks (now in my second pregnancy) - apparently you still can get some mild/phantom type gallbladder pain despite having your gallbladder removed - I put it down to eating quite an oily evening meal which I found used to trigger my previous attacks before my gallbladder was removed.

Thanks for the reply back, hopefully I'll figure out what food causes it, as I really want to avoid surgery.

Sorry to bother you again, but can you remember how many wks you were when you started to have gallstone symtoms?
Mine started at 18wks, I'm. Now 21wks and had 3good wks of nó pain, but the last 3days I am getting darts of pain again no matter what I eat which is fruit or veg. I'm getting very anxious it will effect my pregnancy. I've read so much how early labour can come on and stillbirths.. Sorry to have to bother you again with this.

Thanks for your reply. Did you have many attacks while you were pregnant? I had my first at 18wks pregnant. Still waiting on ultrasound but now 21wks now and have another attack a few times a day for the last 3days not as severe as the first one at 18wks.
Im so worried it will affect my pregnacy or that they will say I need surgery.
