TTC after miscarriage - My story

13 replies

SZ12 · 25/06/2021 17:13

Here is my story. I had a miscarriage on May 29th at 8 weeks, baby stopped growing post 6 weeks. My HCG was 45000 on the day of miscarriage.

Week 1 after miscarriage- HCG 1000

Week 2- HCG 305

Week 3- HCG 81

Week 3+5 days- HCG 20

I am now CD28 post miscarriage (considering first day of miscarriage as CD1). I am very sure that i ovulated already at CD20 as i had cramping and EWCM. I could not test through OPKs as they capture HCG levels. We have been DTD a few times after the bleeding stopped post miscarriage. I am technically 8DPO now (if i ovulated). I just had light spotting now and have cramps. I do not know what is happening to my body.

Question: Anyone else ovulate right after miscarriage? After how long did your AF come? Did anyone get pregnant right after?

Thanks for sharing your stories

It took me about a month. I think I conceived 3 months after miscarriage but it was early. 5 weeks or so.
I hope you're being kind to yourself and recognising this grief. It is real, it is important to mark it in some way.
I wish you all the best

I ovulated 15 days after my MC but did not get pregnant that cycle and so was followed by a normal period two weeks later.
I made sure my hcg was out of the system so that it wouldn't be captured by opks...

@ladywriter1234

Thank you for your kind message. Yes the grief cannot be described in words. When i am busy i do not really realize what happened. But when i get a moment, it pushes me to a very dark place. The only thing that keeps me going is the thought of conceiving again hopefully...i am sorry for your loss too

@SunnysideUp2020

Thanks for sharing. How did you know you ovulated the first cycle right after miscarriage ? I am just trying to figure out if i ovulated at all or i am just imagining...

I ovulated a week or so later thank usual after my first mc, and I conceived again straight away. Sadly that ended in mc again and then I had a weird 3 day bleed slightly later than I would have usually expected my next period, then nothing for 75 days.

Conceived again 8 months after 2nd mc, but didn't start ttc again I had a normal period so it actually took more like 4 cycles (my cycles are irregular anyway). Also ended in mc, and I was having acupuncture at the time. This time, I ended up ovulating earlier than I would normally have expected to, which is a good thing because my cycles were longer than 28 days. I do believe this was down to the acupuncture. Conceived again on that cycle following mc, and currently still going at 33 weeks.

You are more fertile after a mc, but I think it's normal for cycles to be a bit all over the place and delayed following one.

I used clear blue ovulation sticks afterwards, but I didn't bother using them until the bleeding had stopped and I had a negative pregnancy test, but I also do ovulate later than CD14.

I hope this helps, and don't be put off by my multiplies, that isn't very common.

Look after yourself, and good luck for next time. Pregnancy after loss is really hard Thanks

@SZ12
I was doing opks everyday...
I have regular cycles with clear opk peaks midcycle at ovulation.

It did took us 7 months to conceive after the MC tbough...

Thank you SunnySideUp2020 for your reply. Its a hard phase post miscarriage and I appreciate your support.

Thank you Dafodil21 for sharing your story. I am very sorry for your losses and congratulations on your pregnancy. Your courage gives me hope. I wish i was not this obsessed with what is happening to my body but i just can’t help it...

As an update the brown spotting from yesterday stopped. It was like one or two spots of brown discharge (sorry tmi). Maybe my AF is coming and its a precursor to that. I will try to just relax and take one day at a time

@SZ12 I was totally obsessed too. It took over my life tbh. Take care of yourself, it really is shit Thanks

Had a d and c after a mmc. Scan at 13 weeks showed baby had stopped developing at 5 weeks. Got my period 2 weeks later, had really irregular periods after that up until i concieved. Used opks to track ovualtion as there was no way of knowing, one period came after 2 weeks, another after 25 days. Had the d and c beginning of august and got my positive test in the december, currently 28 weeks

@SZ12

It is a hard time to go through. And very frustrating. Like you i was obsessed with ttc and tbh it was the case until i got pregnant. Then i was anxious... MC really messed you up- not just physically :(

But that being said giving birth to my baby 12 weeks ago was the most magical thing and i want to believe that everything that happened before, good and bad, led me to this.
Hope you have your bfp soon x

@SunnySideUp2020

Completely agree and congratulations on the birth of your child. I have a 3.5 years old son and this was my first miscarriage. So i can relate to the joy a baby brings in your life. However, i miss the naivety i enjoyed during my first pregnancy. I know, if & whenever i get pregnant next, i will be very anxious...

Hi! I know this is an old post but I wondered how things went for the OP? I could’ve written the post - im in exactly the same position. Im anxious to start trying again ASAP but am confused about when I’ll ovulate. Hope all’s well with you x
