Pregnancy after Cone Biopsy

Hi everyone,

I'm just looking for another perspective on my experience here, and wondering whether anyone's been through a similar thing?

I had a cone biopsy in 2016, and I'm now 12 weeks pregnant with my first baby. When I had the procedure it was casually mentioned (literally a throw-away comment) that sometimes babies can come early after a cone biopsy, but I didn't get any other details and tbh I wasn't thinking about becoming pregnant at the time so it didn't seem too important to think about!

I had my booking appointment at 6+3 weeks and mentioned it then, and it was written on my notes but nothing was said about it. I've since had my first scan and happily everything looked fine, nothing was brought up.

The other day I remembered what I was told back in 2016 about how babies can be early and looked for some more info - I definitely wasn't aware of how early labour can come on, or the increased risk of late miscarriage. This has really thrown me, as it wasn't something I was even thinking about before as no one had mentioned it to me - and now I'm really worried! Both because of the increased risk, but also because why hasn't anyone had a conversation with me about it, either at my booking appointment or scan?

I called my midwife team this morning, and the midwife I spoke to said I should have been referred to a consultant for at least a telephone appointment, if not a face-to-face one. She's organising that now, which I'm relieved about, but I'm also really not impressed that it's been left to me to follow this up when it can have really serious consequences?? Just feel like I can't trust that I'm getting the right info/appointments/care now, which is really concerning.

I'm just wondering whether anyone else has had a similar experience?

Thanks Smile
