Tv in room with a newborn?

So I'm 21 weeks and lying in bed watching tv and I just had this thought! For as long as I can remember I have always gone to sleep with the tv on, it switches off after an hour or so but I struggle to sleep without it. My partner is the same.
When the baby is here, of course he will be next to me in our room for the first 6 months or so. Will the tv disturb him? What you do guys do if your the same as me and like to go to sleep with the tv?

The baby will adjust to whatever it's living environment is, so if you always have the TV on it will adjust to sleep with it on. I wouldn't worry about this at all - I'm assuming it's not absolutely blaring out noise so it would be fine. My DD slept whilst the telly was on loads as a baby, she mostly napped best on me so I would often just sit under her for 2hrs and watch a film!

It won't be an issue at all. All during my pregnancy I listened to the Harry Potter audio books (can't sleep without them on). DS now listens to it every night and can't sleep without it (2years old!)

My dd would sleep downstairs in her carrycot while we were watching TV before bed and would never wake up. At 3 she and her brother listen to audio books to get to sleep.

I was getting paranoid about this too. Was thinking how can we watch tv in bed anymore?! But I think we’ll put the crib at my husbands side so it’s not too close to the tv then just have the routine of when he gets his last feed at 11ish the tv goes off (that’s what we’d do normally) then we all go to sleep

I agree with PPs although you might find that falling asleep stops being a problem when you have a newborn!

I suffered from insomnia most of my life until I had a baby and suddenly I was able to drop off as soon as my head hit the pillow! Grin
