Only my 2nd time posting on here, everyone is so supportive, I really hope someone can ease my anxiety slightly.

I had a private scan last week at what I thought was 8+2, only to be told I was measuring at around 5+4. I finally got a call back from EPU and have a scan tomorrow afternoon.

Feeling so worried as I have had pale brown spotting fairly consistently for about 2 weeks, and for the past week my breasts have gone back to their usual size and are no longer sore. I never had morning sickness or fatigue to start with, so the only symptom I had has now gone :(

I know no-one can know for sure and I have to try and stay sane until tomorrow pm, but if anyone can share similar experiences I would be most grateful.. desperately trying to hold on to some hope, but I have already had 2 miscarriages and a chemical pregnancy this year, so it isn't looking good :(

I meant to say at the previous scan they could see the fetal pole but no heartbeat, I guess 5+5 would be too early for that... though I don't believe it is possible for my dates to be that far out (I tracked my ovulation, and we didn't have sex at all after that date)

You’ve certainly been through more than me Flowers either way you will get through it, like you have before. Have you got any plans this evening?

ButtercupBlue · 21/06/2021 16:24

Sorry to hear about your losses Daffodil

I can totally sympathise as I get terrible anxiety around scans after mine.

If you're certain about your dates then I guess that does suggest it won't be good news but then you do hear stories like this with a positive outcome so it's really impossible to know until you know.

Was your last scan internal or external? Because at early stages it can be difficult to date accurately and get a clear picture with an abdominal scan so that could have had an impact?

I really wish there was more I could say to help but I honestly think it's just a case of distracting yourself however you can to get through this evening and then deal with whatever happens tomorrow as it comes.

Good luck.

@FTEngineerM thank you for replying, I am supposed to be on a late shift (I work in mental health) but have cancelled my appointments, I feel like I am waiting to miscarry now, just feel heartbroken

Luckily my OH is very supportive, but we're both grieving heavily, it's all too familiar now

@ButtercupBlue thank you for your kind words, it was an internal scan so unfortunately more accurate, although she didn't seem to spend long looking and the whole appointment felt rushed... I think I did implant late, and I guess it is possible for sperm to survive up to a week which is the hope that my OH is clinging to... but my body doesn't feel pregnant anymore :(

Update- feeling really confused now

Just got back from EPU scan... my gestational sac has grown by about 6mm in 5 days, and the yolk sac seemed a bit clearer.. but no change in CRL, and still no heartbeat... surely there should have also been fetal growth?

They couldn't work out where all my bleeding has come from either, had such bad cramps last night I was certain I'd miscarry by now but it's all still intact.. just don't know what to think

What did they actually say? They often suggest a further scan in 1-2 weeks if there's been any sort of change, did they offer that?

Sometimes it's just a waiting game, but it's difficult to be optimistic if no growth in CRL in a week

JessSpurls · 22/06/2021 18:15

@justchecking1 they just said that they didn't know why I was bleeding, that the CRL was around 3.7mm, they could see a yolk sac, and my gestational sac was 21mm (they ignored my private scan results from last Thursday, but I know that's grown by 6mm since, whereas CRL hasn't increased)

They said they can't rule anything out, but based on my lmp (22nd April) it is much smaller than they'd have liked to see 😔

Yes having another scan next Tues 🙏

I'm sorry it wasn't better news for you today. It doesn't sound great tbh in terms of the CRL being unchanged. I hope this next week passes quickly for you. I know how rough it is living in limbo like that.

If this is your third miscarriage you should be able to be referred for some investigations. I know that’s no comfort in the circumstances. I find the Miscarriage Association website and Facebook group helpful. Tommy’s also have a helpline and good information on their website.
I’m afraid you may have to advocate for yourself and push for a thorough look at what’s going on. It shouldn’t be like that but it sometimes is. That’s where peer support from places like mumsnet, Facebook and miscarriage groups (some of which are running on zoom at the moment) can be really helpful. Ask the EPU, your GP and anyone else you can think of for information about every source of support going. You and your partner don’t have to be on your own in this. Flowers

Sorry to hear what you've been through. Sounds like a worrying time. Have you been having your HCG monitored, or taken pregnancy tests regularly?

JessSpurls · 22/06/2021 19:44

Thank you @ActonBell, they said they'd refer me to a specialist clinic if this is an mc

@ItsMeantToBe haven't taken a test for a while, but have some arriving tomorrow

😔 can't believe this is happening
