Anyone had a natural birth after planned c-section with first?

Hi all, I’m currently pregnant with my second. My first was a planned section due to placenta previa - I was fine with the process, found it really calm and recovered fairly quickly. I’ve always thought I’d go for another the second time.

However, it’s likely to be my last and there’s a bit of me that really wants to experience a natural birth.

The problem is literally everyone I know had an awful time with their first birth for one reason or another, and this would technically be my first birth.

I’m also scared of my section rupturing or causing issues.

Has anyone had a section with their first and a natural birth with their second? Id be interested in experiences :)

Hi @Clarkey86

I had an (emergency) c section with my first and a natural birth with my second. In terms of labour the first was the worst, but my second child was born within 7 hours of labour starting, so it wasn't as slow as it seems to be with your first child sometimes, despite being the first child I'd naturally given birth to. There were a few restrictions for my second - it had to be a hospital birth, and they were monitoring constantly so I couldn't move around during labour in hospital (tho I was only at the hospital for about 1.5 hours before the baby came anyway).

Might not be exactly what you're looking for but thought I'd offer my two cents Smile HTH x

Me! Exactly same as you - placenta in way so had an elective first time round. Loved it! Agonised over the decision second time round and booked a section but decided to just wait for it to happen naturally. Went two weeks over and then midwife broke waters to get it going. Had a pretty nice experience really. My word of caution would be the third experience - couldn’t break waters to induce so I had to have a balloon induction because of previous section. It wasn’t entirely pleasant…. but then that’s how it goes with birth I suppose, it’s different every time!

I didn’t feel like I won any prizes by having a natural delivery though. The calmest experience for me was definitely the elective section. But all 3 were equally special.

I have had an emergency section then two VBACS. Lovely as it was to have a vaginal birth as I got to go home quicker baby being here safely was the only thing that mattered. Do what is best for you and the baby.

My scar did nearly rupture but it was with the second baby after the first section. The second baby's issue was retained placenta.

I had an emergency c-section followed by a vbac. I hated it but there was no way they would have given me a c-section, they said I could choose but the reality was different. DC2 arrived a bit early and very fast.
