Anyone been told they’re having a big baby?

I had an emergency scan yesterday after reduced movements. I am measuring 4 weeks ahead fundal height and baby is currently on the 98th centile.

Ive been referred for a GTT and have another scan in 2 weeks.

Has anyone else been told they’re having a big baby? Was induction ever mentioned?

Yes but only with my 4th because he was on track (based on scan) to be over 5KG if left to my own devices.

He was supposedly already 8lb15 at 37wks. So they predicted him to be over 10lb at 40wks and over 11lb/5kG if he was born between 41-2wks like my others (ranging from 8lb11-9lb10) the initial consultant I saw wasn't worried about his size but the senior consultant said that they didn't want him to go over 5kg.

No GD just a habit of producing bigger and overdue babies.

He was induced at 40wks, and weighed 9lb5. So about 1lb less than predicted as well. No discussion about earlier induction, just bang on to stop me going overdue.

I'm currently 5 days over with number 5 who is supposedly average sized, but I'm expecting she will be over 9lb too.

Yes. All after our 1st have been big, no early induction mentioned for the singletons but they wouldn't let me go over 38wk with the twins. Had GTT with all and come back normal each time, inc current. Our 2nd was 10lb 12oz @ 40+5 natural unassisted delivery, 3rd 9lb 10oz natural unassisted delivery, 4&5 8lb 5oz & 8lb 11oz bang on 38wk elcs as breech and transverse. I have a growth scan for this one on Monday to see how she compares to the others. As I had elcs last time they have said they will bring her early if she's as big or bigger than our 2nd was. I'll be going elcs over an induction if they do want to bring her early though, hated induction with 1st as I was in hospital so long.

I’ve been booked for a second growth scan following a normal GTT and continued ‘excessive growth’. And following the growth scan I’ve been booked a consultant review to discuss delivery planning, but my midwife has advised induction/CS due to HC and AC of baby and my pelvis size.
Not an ideal situation but if it gets him here safe then I’d rather that than a stressful emcs because baby got stuck 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was told my first was going to be whopping...on the 99th centile but was never sent for glucose doing nor had any extra scans, I was induced for reduced fetal movements in the end at 39+2 ... me who had brought 0-3 clothes to the hospital expecting this giant human to exit me, had a 6lb baby.... had to send his grandad to get some tiny baby clothes for the hospital 🤣🤣

I’m 33 weeks and baby is on the 90th centile, which was determined from a growth scan after bump measuring big. No mention of GD test for me and they didn’t seem concerned with his size x

Scan at 34w showed DD2 was already weighing 6lb3oz. DH and his brother were both 10lb+ so I was starting to get really worried after DD1 was 8lb6oz and DD2 was projected to be bigger. They said they wouldn’t let me go over 41w as I’m quite small.

She was born at 40+2 weighing 8lb2oz so smaller than DD1.

SamoyedFan123 · 17/06/2021 15:19

My baby was measuring 8lb 8oz at my growth scan last week at 35+4 😳

I do have an induction booked for 38+1 as he's projected to be 10lb plus at that point. I'm hoping the scans are not 100 % accurate!

I was told my DS2 was big, had GD test which was fine and was told that he was 95% centile at 35 weeks and that if he went to term he would be close to 10lbs. I am petite so they suggested induction at 38weeks which I declined but I say if I got to 40 weeks I’d accept it. I went into labour spontaneously at 39+3 and he weighed 7lbs 9oz. I’m now having my third and they say baby is small…needless to say I’m taking it with a pitch of salt 😬

Yes - had repeated tests for GD as was also carrying a lot of excess fluid, and lots of growth scans.

Ended up opting for an ELCS at 39 weeks as he was predicted to be over 5kg - he was 4.75kg at birth but v large head and shoulders and I am slim built so shoulder dystocia was my main worry, and I’d also had a difficult delivery with my first (narrowly avoided EMCS) so it was right choice for me.

I had an induction, because I was a week overdue and the baby was showing as large.

The induction pessaries failed so rather than having my waters broken
I waited another week and DS was born weighing 10lb 4.5oz.

I started measuring on the 95th centile at 34 weeks - everyone told me how inaccurate the EFW is from scans etc. They were totally right. She came out at 40+5 at 11lb 7oz. No GD and I’m only 5ft2 and (was!) size 8.
