Lacto free formula for lacto tolerant child with colic

Hello we started feeding with Aptimel powder and our son experienced bad colic symptoms which we thought may be a lactose intolerance at 3 weeks. We tried lactase drops which eased it a little for a few days then it came back. Last week we switched to lacto free sma in case he was intolerant.

We just had 6 weeks checkup and were told he has bad colic and no intolerance as he is feeding pooing and weeing fine.

Do we switch to normal sma or keep on the lacto free. If we switch is it a simple swap or is it phased.

Also giving colic medicine now every other feed.

He is growing well.

Thank you

It is very, very rare for a baby to be lactose intolerant OP. Its much more likely to be CMPA ( cows milk protein allergy) in which case lactose free formula still contains the protein as lactose is the sugar. I would try dairy free formula ( you can get soya based formula off the shelf but 60% of babies with cmpa will also be allergic to soya, in which case you'll need prescription formula from the GP )

Thank you. The doctor today dismissed any allergy as he is fussy mainly due to wind after feeding. No sickness, skin irritation and normal consistency of stools
