Pupils dilated at eye infirmary during pregnancy?

Hi all,

I am 11+6 today. On Wednesday (12+1) I’m having my NHS dating scan and bloods. Straight after I’ve got to go to the eye infirmary to have my pupils dilated as I’ve been having black shapes moved across my eyes (pretty regularly) for over a month now. They’ve said it’s probably nothing but are a little concerned I could have a detached retina. The process involves drops.

Initially they sent me home as they needed to check what was safe in pregnancy. They are now assuring me that having it done is safe, but nevertheless, I’m worried.

Has anyone else had it done (especially in the first trimester) was everything okay with your baby? My Doctor/optician has said it’s safe but hasn’t said much else comforting or spent any time reassuring me. I am very anxious anyway due to a previous miscarriage. So I just need absolute reassurance (if at all possible).

Please share if you have any experiences.

Thanks in advance x
