Please Help - bleeding in early pregnancy don't know what to do?

I don't actually know if I'm pregnancy yet as my period isn't due until this Friday so I figured too early to test. Though it's safe to assume it's likely as it's third cycle of TTC and I've started getting bleeding.

My period is always like clockwork so I know it's not that. And also the bleeding has been happening since Friday and lightly, which isn't like my periods normally which are heavy.

So here's my question, Friday just passed the bleeding was definitely what I'd consider to be spotting. It's happened once a day since so for three days. This morning however, the fourth day it's gone like blood - bright red. Not enough to soak a pad but when I wiped this morning there was about 4x4 inches of it (sorry to graphic but I'm really scared),

I've had a miscarriage before no symptom but as you can imagine it's making me very anxious.

I'm reading articles and some say it's nothing others say call doctor immediately. But at what would only be four weeks they're not going to be able to scan me or are they?

Has anyone had a GP or early pregnancy unit referral this soon in?

What should I do?

I'm also calling doctors but have little hope as tried to her appointment last week there and three days running could not and only because I told them it's urgent they fitted me in

It's so difficult to know, could your period be early this month? Have you had a Covid vaccine as that seems to affect some women's cycles?

DappledOliveGroves · 14/06/2021 08:19

Have you taken a test? FRER might pick something up this early on. Otherwise it could be implantation bleeding if it then tails off?

Garman · 14/06/2021 08:20

They won't do anything this early, especially as you don't even know if you're pregnant yet. Could be a chemical miscarriage.

husbandcallsmepickle · 14/06/2021 08:22

I would advise you take a pregnancy test first to check for HCG levels, otherwise it is possibly just your period come early.

Namechangeme1 · 14/06/2021 08:22

I've not taken a test as have done this previously when pregnant last time and didn't show this early so I figured pointless? But maybe I still should anyway.

@feliznavidad2 yes I had the Pfizer about three weeks ago but the thing is I've been spotting since Friday and my period never worked like that before. It's light the first few hours the heavy. Also the old is bright red doesn't look like my period usually looks

@husbandcallsmepickle but I didn't think it would show up this early? I shall try one there's nothing to lose I suppose.

It's just that never in my life has my period been a whole week early that I can remember

You won't know unless you take a test? Sorry to be harsh. No one here can answer you because we don't know if you are pregnant or not. It sounds like your period has come early or if not perhaps a chemical pregnancy

potentialdogowner · 14/06/2021 08:28

You need to definitely take a test. If it's too early to show on a test it's not a miscarriage, just your period. When we started TTC my periods did some odd things, I had one cycle that was randomly 70 days! The saying is 'you're regular until you're not'!

Namechangeme1 · 14/06/2021 08:28

@squishyegg I hear what you're saying but tests don't show at four weeks?

OP posts:
Namechangeme1 · 14/06/2021 08:29

@potentialdogowner ok that makes sense thanks I'm going to grab one now

You should take a pregnancy test.

Trying for a baby can put a mental strain on you aren't aware of. It may be psychosomatic it may be real it may be something it may be nothing.

Take a clear blue early response and follow the instructions to the letter.

feliznavidad2 · 14/06/2021 08:31

Good luck @Namechangeme1
@squishyegg I hear what you're saying but tests don't show at four weeks?
You get HCG once the embryo has implanted, if it hasn't implanted yet you won't test positive and therefore you won't be pregnant. Sometimes the egg can fertilise and become an embryo, but not implant so you were never pregnant. People can test positive earlier than others because some embryos can implant quicker so they may test positive a couple days earlier. So bottom line is take a test, if your pregnant you could call the GP but many won't do a scan until 6 weeks anyway as you can't see anything until then. Many years TTC and IVF experience here unfortunately so I know a lot about this!

LeopardHawk · 14/06/2021 08:33

It's not a miscarriage if it's before your period is even due. You don't need to do anything.

Moominmiss · 14/06/2021 08:40

I got my positive this time at 8dpo which was 3+6 weeks so it’s absolutely possible for a test to show early.

Good luck. I’d say without a test you just won’t know. Could be implantation or the Pfizer jab could have messed with your cycle this month and it could be your period showing up early. I know a few of my friends who’ve had their periods early or late due to having the covid jab.

willithappen · 14/06/2021 08:41

If you recently had the vaccine I think it sounds like that's causing it.
If you are four weeks an early response test should be able to pick something up.

Namechangeme1 · 14/06/2021 08:48

Thanks everyone, I'm just going to leave it not even bother test. DH says what's the point - can't do anything anyway potentially causing more harm than good. I kind of agree with him.

Also, random but the Pfizer jab causes early cycles I didn't know this. And makes me concerned about the jab.

Just to update I took a test and it was negative. Thankfully, just so annoying the one time by body does this first time in years and it happens to be when I've started TTC. This journey is already starting to exhaust me it's a horrible head fuck.

Anyway, thanks for your help x

OP, my cycle was like clockwork until I tried to conceive and then it threw in the odd late period just to get my hopes up! Your body does funny things.

Namechangeme1 · 14/06/2021 19:00

@Lou573 how strange. Why does the body do this just to mess us up in the head some more? Honestly I've had enough already of TTC I'm only on month 3 😥

I'm sorry @Namechangeme1 x

I think this I possible, happened with a lot of people I worked with that they got an early or late period after Pfizer. I got my first Pfizer jab right before conceiving but hasn't caused any problems, got the second one 3 weeks later as scheduled. I'm 6 months pregnant now. Best of luck with your journey OP x
