This will be a long one so bare with me please.
On Thursday 3rd of June I start having some light brown spotting anytime I wiped after the toilet, so I rang the maternity hospital to speak to a midwife, she said bleeding during early pregnancy is very common and to ring back if I got any pain on one side or if the bleeding got worse, I thought at the time I was 5 weeks going by my last period, Anyways it came to Friday the 4/06/2021 I had to go to work at 5pm, on the bus there at 3:30 I got abit of cramping on one side, nothing major but it made me worry, about an hour into my shift then I got a sharp pain on one side and had to run to the toilet, bleeding was still brown but this time had multiple small dark clots, I immediately panicked and left work, rang the 2 closest maternity hospitals they wouldn’t answer so I rang one that was 20 minutes away and they told me to come in to get checked as I was experiencing pain on one side, they then did a vaginal ultrasound and a blood test all seemed fine the midwife even reassured me that she thought I was just earlier than I thought I was and that the baby had to grow, but she booked me in for another blood test on Monday 7th of June just to check my HCG levels, once I got there I had to have another vaginal ultrasound as they said my hcg levels were just over 1300 and that they should be able to see something in my uterus once they’re over 1000, I was sat there for about 40 minutes having this ultrasound done the midwife could not detect any sac or anything in the uterus but she said there was a tiny “echo” just beside my left ovary, she then got two doctors in to examine my stomach to see if I was in any pain, I was in no pain at the time since the previous cramping the Friday before, but they wanted to keep me overnight as they suspected it was an ectopic pregnancy and wanted to check my levels first thing that morning from the blood test I had gotten, that night then at around 12am I started getting cramps on one side again nothing major just light a period cramp, I took two paracetamol and went to sleep, at 6am Tuesday the 8th of June I woke up and the bleeding had turned bright red with big clots, I was seen by a doctor shortly after who informed me my HCG levels dropped to 700, I was allowed go home that day as I had no pain and was booked in for a following 2 more blood tests, one on Wednesday the 9th of June and one on the 15th of June. I went last Wednesday to get the blood test and my levels dropped to 300 and something and am now awaiting for my hopefully final blood test on the 15th to make sure they went down completely, I feel very grateful the levels went down by themselves and I didn’t need surgery but I can’t help but still feel so lost and unsure about what happened to me, was it an ectopic as they couldn’t find anything in my uterus and could see small echo, or did I just miscarry, just feeling very confused because where was the sac all they could see was an echo, and if it was ectopic/pregnancy of unknown location would my levels have still dropped naturally, feeling very confused OH told me I should ask to speak to the doctor on the 15th and ask them questions but am afraid they will say they can’t speak with me :( really upset and confused about this experience as we were both so very excited for a baby, we want to try again but I’m so scared soemthing bad like this will happen again, just need some answers or advice, SORRY IF THE PICS ARE TMI just need to show what it looked like as well as the pictures of the “echoes” please someone help me I’m just so lost, did I have an ECTOPIC/PUL OR WAS IT MISCARRIAGE, has anyone else experienced this? Bleeding has stopped and I feel fine physically now but I just need some advice or answers :( thanks in advance xxx

Sorry you have been through this.
I had something very similar in my first pregnancy. They decided mine was probably a ectopic but nothing was ever seen on scans. I’ve since had my dd, another miscarriage after her but not until over 9 weeks and was seen in the right place. I’m now 12 weeks pregnant again.
I get early scan not make sure everything is in the right place, but sometimes there’s know way of knowing where it was.

You may never know.
There is so much that the experts don’t know about miscarriage.
I can confidently say that there may never be answers for you.
It’s rubbish , the whole thing is rubbish but it is what it is.
Sorry for your loss.

@Em39ma thank you for getting back to me, I’m so happy to hear you had a healthy pregnancy afterwards, been going out of my mind lately, in the hospital today for my final blood test so I’m going to ask can I speak with a doctor about my situation, and I’m very sorry about your previous bad experiences and wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy ❤️

@Em39ma @imaginethemdragons update: just back from the hospital had my repeat blood test, waiting for midwife to ring to assure me my levels have completely dropped, midwife assured me that what I had was a natural miscarriage because if it was ectopic my levels wouldn’t have dropped as quickly as they did they would have stayed around the same or drop very slowly or rise very slowly, whereas a normal pregnancy the levels would double, not a great situation to go through but I am so thankful it wasn’t an ectopic and was told I can try again after my next period as everything in the ultrasound is was fine, thank you ladies for your help ❤️

@Ruby2328 mine levels did drop very slowly and a few times went up.
Good news they are sure a natural miscarriage.

daddydas · 16/06/2021 21:25

@Ruby2328 you probably had a chemical pregnancy since it was less than 6 weeks. I was in a similar situation to yours a few months ago and the sharp pain I know what you mean. The doctor explained me as "body refused the implantation as it felt it was not at the right place and avoided ectopic". Any loss sucks but the good thing is you don't need to deal with ectopic, which is terrible. And since the hcg levels are dropping, try again next cycle no need to wait.

daddydas · 16/06/2021 21:26

One thing I want to add is to perform saline infused sonohystergram as that will flush out your tubes and increase the chance of pregnancy.

Ruby2328 · 17/06/2021 13:23

Awh really yeah that would make sense it wasn’t a major pain just like a heavy period cramp, nothing I couldn’t really deal with, yeah we are going to try again next cycle as we were both so excited 💔 thank you for your suggestion how would I go about getting that done?

Not sure where you are from but here in Canada you can do it at any fertility clinic. That check will also ensure that there is no scaring in your uterus and so on. Maybe check with a private clinic specialize in fertility treatment.

Ruby2328 · 17/06/2021 16:26

@daddydas yeah I’ll have to have a look thank you 😊
