Hey everyone!

I am 25 and normally sit around 10.0 stone, I am 5'2'' so that puts me around a BMI of 25 which is already at the very high end of healthy / low end of overweight.

I am 6+5 today and weighed myself this morning and weighed 11.0 stone exactly - I had such a cry!!! Sad I just looked and that puts me at a BMI of 28!! & I haven't even had my booking appointment yet! I am still so so early in pregnancy and have not eaten anything different .. If anything I have actually eaten LESS over the pass few weeks as have found myself getting full super quick, not being able to finish meals, and this week with nausea etc. Sort of a food aversion.

I have always been self-conscious of my weight (I know I am not huge in the grand scheme of things, but its always been something thats got to me / affected my confidence) and I am petrified of putting on a LOT with this pregnancy (this is my first so not sure how my body is going to fill out / hold the bump and weight etc).

Can I please ask, if you don't mind me asking...

  • How much did you put on during pregnancy?
  • How quick did it take you to lose it after / how much did you lose after?

Also, any exercises you can recommend that are safe for pregnancy that would help keep my weight down or at least manageable throughout the pregnancy?

Thanks in advance xxx

I know your looking for words of reassurance but honestly it's different for everyone, as frustrating as that is!

I gained 2.5 stone during my first pregnancy (was of a healthy weight) and lost it all within around 6-8 weeks.

I know that's not the case for everyone and quite possibly won't be the case for me this time either. My only advice would be to just carry on eating as normal, there's no need to over-indulge or use pregnancy as an excuse to binge eat your favorite foods. It can be difficult of course and I personally have a treat every day! But it's usually just one treat and the rest of the day I fill up on healthier foods (generally) on weekends vegetables don't feature quite as much as they should mind Hmm

It's no big secret, just keep an eye on it! Sounds like your already aware and that's a good thing

Don't worry about it, honestly! It's the one time in your life I don't think you should worry about weight - even early on your blood volume increases, you start laying down fat and you retain fluids so you are bound to put on some weight!

I am 5'2 and pre first pregnancy was 9.5 stone, by booking appointment at 9 weeks I was already 10 stone 1 so over half a stone on. By the end I had put on 4 stone, once he was born I lost 1 stone pretty quickly but then it took me a few months to get back down to 11 stone and eventually back to just under 10 stone.

Knowing all that, I haven't even bothered weighing myself this pregnancy! At booking (10 weeks) I was 10 stone 3.

Don't worry, just enjoy! :) x
