Hi moms! I just recently tested positive for H. Pylori and was prescribed omeprazole, amoxicillin, and clarithromycin. My obgyn said its okay to take the antibiotics but I am scared that the medicine will harm my baby. I'm 27 weeks pregnant. Have any of you ever taken those medicine or know someone who was in my situation?

I've had amoxicillin in a previous pregnancy, no issues for baby but it can cause thrush so watch out for symptoms of that.

They are very commonly given in pregnancy and there’s absolutely nothing to worry about. I had omeprazole during pregnancy and amoxicillin while breastfeeding. There might also be risks to the baby by not treating the infection you have.

I’m on Omeprazole during my pregnancy and it’s totally safe. The other two are too so don’t worry.

I've had amoxicillin in pregnancy and I would have loved to have had omeprazole but alas they wouldn't prescribe it.

Obgyn are rather specialist so I really would just take their expert opinion rather than anecdata on a forum, it will be fine. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Well would you prefer not to take them and risk getting a serious infection that could affect either or both of you?
